I have a problem with embedded verizon card. VZ access manager shows evdo and 1xrtt. When im connected 95% of the time it connects to 1xrtt not Ev do.
I have a Sierra wireless MC5725 modem. I tried different locations and it stays at 1xrtt. Sometimes it would show Evdo speeds.

Have you tried to update the firmware in the MC5725?

You're probably not in an EVDO coverage area...

Are you in a very remote area?

    Thanks.

Yes it is very frustrating to get stuck on extended area service it is so slow its really not usable. I was right under the Verizon tower and on extended coverage. Here is the fix….

Lock Your Verizon Modem to 3G/EVDO Only
Below are the instructions to set your Verizon modem to 3G-only mode:
    1. Open VZAccess Manager with your card inserted, but do NOT connect to the internet.
    2. Hold Control + D
    3. You will be prompted to enter a password. Enter: "diagvzw"
    4. Select "Settings" from the menu
    5. Select "HDR Only" for "preferred operating mode", as shown below (This is the only setting that should be changed)

    6. Save settings, then close and restart VZAM.
Once you restart VZAM, your modem will only be able to connect to 3G/EVDO. If you travel to an area where only 1xRTT coverage is available, you can easily change your settings back by following the steps above and selecting "automatic" as your "preferred operating mode".

I put the Panasonic cf-30 to work today and tried the settings from I58SR and it works great. 3g is always on. Thank you very much to all.

    Hi Dahraf

Glad it worked for you. It made a night and day difference on mine. I also rename the VZAccess Manager desktop shortcut to the password diagvzw. This way I don’t have to search for the password.
