Does this toughbook carry a regular 2.5" IDE hard drive? If so, where is it located in the unit please?

A quick google of CF-w2 indicated an IDE controller (from a review), so it <should> be a 2.5" IDE drive.

indicated the drive is under the keyboard, so you'll probably need to get out your screwdrivers.

Nothng in the toughbook.wikispaces site, so info is limited.

Suggest you google it and troll thorugh the results -and let us know what you find. :D

You'll have to take the entire thing apart to get to it. Yes it's IDE but the main thing being it's DUAL voltage meaning that vast majority of laptop drives won't work. The replacement has to be +/- 3V and 5V both. When/if you decide to pull it out, start with the 3 screws holding down the keyboard (under the removable plates on the bottom), then pull up the keyboard and pull out those black screws and the 5 silver screws (one under the disc lid and 2 under the right side cover). Then flip it over and pull out the rest of the bottom screws and the 2 hex on the side. Then you can pull the bottom cab up and off.
