Hmmm....Well, my CF-30 is only 1 week old, and the cover to the charging port just decides to crack off.....Keep in mind that I was in 70* to 75* climate, and only plugged this beast in about a total of 10-15 times... If you oun a CF-30, just keep an eye on your dc jack cover, and the USB cover.... The bottom line, I called 1-800-LAPTOP5 and they sent me out a replacement along with a spare....Very nice on their part.....Short and sweet...I guess I am trying to figure out how my CF-28 has been plugged in about 200 to 300 times, and is still in great shape....I am thinking they should change the charging adapter to a straight plug instead of the 90* angle plug... Might just solve a few problems... Ok, I am done with my rant for now...Other than this little deal, the CF-30 is a tank, and the best Panasonic I have ever owned yet...

I prefer the angled connection myself, especially when I'm using the car adapter.

Was the laptop used, or is it brand new? I'm wondering if this is a common problem or if a previous owner might have been careless with it (my 28 parts book has a similar issue).

I've always wondered why they didn't make the plug itself waterproof or water resistant. Then you have no need for the cover.

The cover on any of then need to be handled gently or they can be torn off.

pretty much all the port covers are delicate when not in the closed position. I had my 28 sitting on a car seat with the door open so I could have my lousy netgear wifi card in the card slot. well don't ask me how, but i broke the hinges off. i wasn't being rough with it or anything, it must have just flexed backwards too far. luckily i discovered that the hinges are the same on CF27s so I fixed it withougt costing myself any $$ :)

At least they're repairable, all the port covers on my 25 have long since broken off and there's no way to fix them

If your serial # is a 7E or earlier, it's covered as an engineering change and you could probably talk them into just sending the covers. The DC, USB, and serial covers all have that problem.

Edit: meant to say 7E instead of 7D
