    Hello Everyone,

Just joined the site and I am looking for some ToughBook addicts opinions on a CF 19 that I am thinking of buying from this guy I know in the neighborhood but have a few questions im sure someone can answer for me.

    Toughbook Model = CF-19 Digitizer

    Here are the specs..
    250 Gig Hard Drive
    3.0 GIG DDR 2 RAM
    1.06 Centrino DUAL Core Processor
    Wireless LAN B&G Built-in.
    Bluetooth built-in
    10.4 inch anti-glare touchscreen
    Windows XP Pro Tablet Edition.

    Following software installed:

Windows XP Professional Office: Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, Money, Autoroute, Outlook etc.

A 12 month subscription to Norton anti-virus 2008. Norton Systemworks complete

Toshiba Portable USB DVD/CDRW Drive. As new. Identical to the Panasonic CF-VDRRT3. They are BUS powered so charge directly from the toughbook.

A brand new & boxed Kensington car charger for the CF-19.

Also including a brand new Crumpler case that fits the CF-19 perfectly.

IS $800 a good deal for this set up as I am not too familiar with the Panasonic Lineup all though I love the ToughBook as I have used one before and the price always scared me.. lol.

Also I have a wireless T-Mobile Internet Card on my other laptop currently.. will this Wireless card I have now from T-Mobile fit this toughbook and let me gain access to the internet while mobile or will I need a different one or even a different provider other then T-mobile ?

Thank You in Advance for all your input and help in making me make my decision.. Looking forward to learning all I can and hopefully soon be a Toughbook owner like all of you !

Sounds like a steal to me. Is it a used/refurbished system, and is there any kind of warranty?

As for the T-Mobile card, it might help if you find a picture of it. Is it a PCMCIA card or an ExpressCard? The CF-19's card slots are recessed deep into the body, framed by plastic and metal. If the card has a big lump of plastic that is meant to stick out of the computer, then this might not fit in a CF-19.

Thank You For the Feedback ..

Yes It is Apparently Brand New and the guy needs fast cash for his sister who is ill out of state and needs to get there.

Has warranty as well so he stated just now..

Here are two photos of the Mobile Card I am currently using for my OTHER laptop and just trying to see of this will work on the CF 19 ..

The Mobile Card as you see has the SIM Card port ..it can be removed and can it be inserted into a SIM PORT if the CF 19 has this capability ?

Thanks again for all your input .. !

That is the same deal that is posted on Craigslist. I emailed the guy and got the same story that he is in TN (I believe) and will not be home for some time. I also posted this on Rob's site.

This would be my only caution... which is it, touchscreen or digi. If your concerned, see if he will give you the serial number. You can then call Pani and make sure it's not a stolen machine.

Hello and Thank You, guess im not alone..what city did you see the craigslist add in..if you mind? Miami was where it started with me .. I actually spoke with the guy after two emails...he called from a (305) area code, after a little research it is a cell phone # and is too late to reach out to my source today to get a cell phone bill contact name and billing address to confirm true identity... when i had this guy on the phone I told him I am not sending cash .. mailing money of any kind to anyone.. also added hope his sister gets well and see you in person to handle the deal, he said ok and when I asked when will he get back to me he said tomorrow he will know what date he will be back...

as for it being stolen .. very possible.. I will try and call him tomorrow if he doesnt call me and see what I get .. being a retired cop and a private investigator I dont fall for scams as easy as someone else might.. sometimes when something sounds too good to be true it probably is.. so I will feel this out to the fullest.

Thank You to everyone that gave me help .. I appreciate it .. and even if this deal does not pan out, I am STILL interested in a toughbook regardless and will be looking for another toughbook to buy one way or another. So you guys have not gotten rid of me this easily, lol.. I ll stick around in the meanwhile and read the threads here and learn more about the wonderful toughbook.

Will keep you updated on the outcome..

    Have a great night !

The listing (Craigslist) I saw was the one in San Diego, and it is still listed there.

Well then obviously the guy cant be in two places at one time.. my gut feeling and professional experience is leaning me towards a scammer. I ll see how this plays out tomorrow..

I still like the CF 19 and if this is a fake ad, then I ll look somewhere else to buy one..

Thanks for the info Silver Trooper..

Judging by the pictures I think there is a good chance your card will fit into a CF-19, but it will block the ExpressCard slot, which is placed above the PCMCIA slot that your card would occupy. Not a problem if you don't need the ExpressCard, or if you use a card there without protruding parts.

On CF-19s which come with factory-installed WWAN there is a SIM card slot in the rear. As the machine from the ad has no built-in WWAN, I'm not sure if it has a SIM slot - but even if it does, that built-in SIM slot would serve no function without the factory-installed WWAN hardware. You can get this gear and install it yourself (but I hear it is a somewhat tricky procedure).

Thank You Very Much Zakalwe, That is what I needed to know even if this laptop listed above turns out to be a dead end.

I am still leaning towards the CF 19 and now that the card should fit I am leaning even more. It wouldnt matter if the internet card blocks anything else as I do not use anything else in the slot except the card for internet.

Thank You for the info.. now I got to start gathering my $$ out of my cookie jar. lol.

One more question as to refurbished CF 19 units.

What would be the highest one would pay for the following specs..

    CF 19

Intel Duo Core 1.06 Ghz Digitizer

    1GB Ram
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 with Service Pack 3
    80 gig Sata HD
    Wireless Ready
    Modem
    Firewire
    Ethernet Port
    BlueTooth / WiFi
    Stylus
AC Charger & DC Charger (For Auto)

    CF-19CDBAXVM

Laptop is in mint exterior condition.. very minor scratches.

I believe this model is discontinued ?

But what would you suggest be the highest I should pay / offer ... ?

I really want to get this CF 19 model ~ as you can see..

Thanks again for all your help !

    This is the same add that is all over the Internet. My thoughts would be;

    1. It is some sort of a scam

    or

    2. It is a stolen laptop

I hope that I am wrong but that which is too good to be true usually is. That should go for about $1800. So why would they sell it at a loss?

As far as warranties go... NEW Panasonic comes with 3 year from inservice date, no swappable to 2nd owner.

Refurbished (Via Panasonic) goes to 3 months from date of sale.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that's the dope.

Thank You Sir for the valuable info. I did not hear back from the seller of my 1st post and the phone is a Go Fone ( Pay as you go) Non traceable... so most likely is a scam...

The second book I am looking at is on an auction and I ll watch it and see where the $$ gets to and make my decision to bid or still shop around ..

Thank you all .. I hope to be a ToughBook Owner Soon.
