I am regularly using the laptop in bed. The good side of the toughbook is that there are no vent holes at the bottom, so there is no problem just putting it on the legs - you don't kill the airflow. But the drawback is that your feet become too hot :)

I was considering to buy a cooling pad for my laptop for that purpose. I found lots of good solutions for aluminum pads with vents. They are good of course but since there are no vents at the bottom - why not a passive cooling solution? Do you know any?

just use the energy options of ur OS to reduce the power consumption and so also to reduce the heat radiation. Or use a different position in ur bed :)

As you get older, you will find that the feet warming option is VERY nice.

I have to ask. Just how close to your feet is this laptop?

A girlfriend of mine is using something similar like this: 12_-1305161047.jpg between her HP-Laptop and the coverlet
It's cheap, and u can burn it, if u don't like it....
