Shawn said back in 2016 on a thread I can't access:
"Pin 20 mod was for wifi.
Did that work on wwan also?"

"Yes, cause it is also PCI-ExpressHad done this on some Toughbooks, but not on a CF-53. Only downside is, u can not disable via Wireless Switch Utility if u disconnect pin20. But on some cards it does work via the utility if I soldered an pull-up resistor between pin 20 and 3.3V on the card."

Weeks ago I'd bought on eBay a random $15 non-Panasonic-specific Sierra Wireless MC7700 AirPrime for my CF-31 Mk2 on the offchance it might work. I'm the kind of skinflint who'd rather waste $15 than spend $100.
Downloaded drivers and Skylight connection manager, tried with W7x64 & W10x64 - card was never recognised, assumed I'd wasted my money and gave up trying.
Moved from W10 back to W7 (AGAIN) just to have a usable touchpad - taps far too sensitive even at lowest setting and no option to turn tapping off. Made me crazy.
Thought I'd try the WWAN again today so started searching.
Changed 'Optional Kit Configuration' (Password 'toughkit') setting in the bios from ff to 2 (for UK). Someone here had suggested '02 or 04' but no 02 or 04 available in my settings.
Cut a sliver of kapton tape to cover pin 20, checked in device manager and the card was found but not working yet. Skylight connection manager didn't work well at all. Eventually tried Windows and it started running it with no fuss at all - and now it's handling WWAN even better than wifi.
I made all the changes pretty randomly so can't say if the pin 20 mod or changing the bios was what made the difference, sorry. It might even be that I just hadn't switched the CF-31 off before I inserted the sim card when i was trying last time.
Just came here to say "Thanks!"
And I'd still rather have a virus than W10. What a POS.

Interesting.
Thanks for posting the info. -
Oops, sorry, forgot to credit BaRRmaley for the info about switching off before inserting the sim card.
I'd be completely lost without you guys.
Thanks again!Shawn likes this.
Pin 20 mod on MC7700 works (I think)
