I powder coated the lid, handle, and hinge cover on my CF-28. I decided to sell it on eBay (since I've got a CF-18 now), and I know how people go crazy over the colored ones. I wanted to show y'all a couple of pics of it so you know it can be done. If you are going to do this (or have it done), be sure to remove all the stock paint off the lid with one of those 3M black rough things, sandpaper, or sandblasting so your powder coating comes out well. If you're wondering what the difference is between powder coating and paint, run a key down the side of your car, then the same key down the side of your clothes dryer... I promise your dryer will survive better! I'm very pleased my results!

Looks good man! Did you coat it yourself, or did you send it out?

I did it myself, but I did run a small powder coating business for several years, so I do have the equipment and (somewhat rusty) knowledge!

What kind of oven did you use? One specific for powder coating? I know a guy who has an old stove in his shop that he uses... I'm just curious...

When I did powder coating as a business, I had a fairly large oven, but now that I do it on rare occasions for friends and such, I just use an old kitchen oven. It really works just as well. Once you powder coat in an oven, don't plan on preparing any food in it!
