I just updated to a new Cf-74 from a Cf-73. I have 3 ac adapters and one dc adapter all for the Cf-73. One for the office, home, computer bag and of course the Lind DC adapter for the car.

Can I use the Cf-73 adapters on the CF-74? I really don't want to spend another 400-500 on power supplies.

Just look at the output ratings on the power bricks, compare what the CF-74 has to the older CF-73 bricks. If the voltage is the same, and the orientation of the tip is the same, and the tip fits, then it will be fine. If the voltage is the same but the amperage (and therefore the wattage) is different, then it may be a problem, but only if the CF-73 has a lower amperage/wattage. If it's greater, no problem. If it's less, you still may be okay, depending on the difference and the power requirements of the new laptop.
This goes for any laptop power adapter.

Voltage appears to be the same at 15.6 volts but amps are different. I believe that Cf-74 charger is 8 amps and the CF-73 charger is 5 amp. I admit I have NO idea what that means however.

That means the CF-74 uses a 125 Watt power adapter, and the CF-73 uses a 75W adapter. What are the specs of the two laptops?

I forgot that Panasonic has 24x7 support. I called that and they said the I can use the 73 adapter, but since it only outputs 5 amps, it will take longer to recharge the battery. I can live with that.

Thanks for the help guys. A very interesting forum. Think that I will hang out for a while.

I use a lind 5.5 amp dc/dc adapter for all of my toughbooks
    That includes my cf-74
The only time in is going to draw a lot of current is during battery charging and using the laptop at the same time
Feel the ac adapter when you are using it, if it gets hot its overloading

I personaly would not worry about using the 5amp
    But
I would not take a chance using my small 3.85 amp cf-19 ac adapter
