I wonder if there is any notable difference in the power consumption between Gobi 1000 and Gobi 2000 when using them as 3G modems only.
Or the question is if Gobi 2000 will use power for the GPS chip even if we do not use it? Any extra heat? Or I am asking too much![]()

I doubt there is any significant difference on power draw between the 1000 and 2000. Probably within milli-watts of each other.
If the GPS is disabled in the BIOS, then it will not consume any power. Or if it is enabled in the BIOS, but not being accessed by any software, then it should not consume power and therefore not generate heat. That is the way I see it w/the unit I have been using, but I have not done any test. More experience members will correct me, add more info, as necessary.
If a person does not know, then they are not asking too much. -
So sometimes even very tiny things like to have a gps chip or not are important. That's why I am asking.
