On my last OS install I did not install the Panasonic/Toshiba Bluetooth drivers or software. I am simply using the MS BT in W7. Everything is/has been working fine just like when I did have the Panasonic BT installed. Has anybody ran into any other related problems in doing it this way?

The main reason for me not to install it was that it runs a considerable amount of processes. If my memory is correct I think it was 7 or 8 processes always running. I did not load alot of there stuff simply because it's already in W7, so why duplicate.

    Anybody's thoughts?

Well running fine to do what? The Microsoft Bluetooth stack has always been pretty limited, pretty much just the keyboard and mouse. If you are just for that, you should be fine.

Now if you need it for networking, stereo audio, or other tricks, you may find yourself less happy with its performance...

In my vehicle I use my BT Mouse, Jawbone or my iPhone. In my office I use a Mouse, HP BT Printer. In my other office I have a BT KB. I don't have anything that is Stereo BT now that I think about it...

I had noticed that on Panasonic's driver install page it says the BT Software/Drivers are mandatory. Which I can't seem to figure out why they say that, and they don't state that many programs that are mandatory. Like the SoundMax for instance. But, we all know how they are sometimes wacked in regards to there way of thinking about there drivers and programs :)

The only problem I had with using the MS stack was with my bluetooth stereo headphones. I think the toshiba has support for a2dp which Windows stack doesn't? I could be wrong rather than trying to solve the MS stack problem I just installed the Toshiba ones easy peasy connection. I think I can spare a few cycles of CPU power to not have a headache :p

Toyo, W7 couldn't handshake with my Asus G2P's built-in BT, so I tried Toshiba's stack and have been fiddling. It appears there are options to start only 'required' services.

As for BT headsets, I was only able to get it working with my Nokia, not laptops with MS BT. Eno was onto something when he mentioned Toshiba's a2dp support and guess what?... my Plantronics in-ear set works!

Eno, share with us how you configure peripherals when using Toshiba's stack.

If I go thru the settings and only turn on the options I need there was still like 8 or 9 procesess running and a some of them were pretty hungry.

Heck, I am going to install it and see what I come up with. I saw where Toshiba has a newer version that is not that old, but they won't let you download it unless you register a Toshiba computer from what I remember. I could be wrong?

I don't do much just set the thing to locate bluetooth on start and thats it. I finds any new device and registers it and connects previously registered ones if they are on. Very unintrusive and seamless.
When I don't have to think about it, it is doing a good job. Very good stack that Toshiba

You can get the latest Toshiba Bluetooth software for free; it'll just cost you 29.90 Euros (41.18 USD, 40.14 CAD, 40.64 AUD or 25.33 GBP) to keep it after thirty days: TOSHIBA Bluetooth Stack for end users.

I ordered that Toshiba bluetooth dongle for my CF-29 that was posted in the other thread For $30 bucks I assume it comes with the Toshiba stack license, if so. that may be the way to go kinda like buying the license and getting a free dongle.

I said dongle people get your minds out the gutter.
