Hello. Great forum and a wealth of knowledge on the Panny Toughbooks here. This forum has helped me load my recently bought CF-19 MKI.

I've run into one snag though...

I loaded Windows Vista Business on the machine and for some reason the screen does not automatically rotate to portrait mode when I flip the screen. I loaded all the drivers in order as per the instructions from the Panasonic Toughbook site but the screen does not rotate when the screen is flipped into tablet mode. I tried to change the properties with the tool in the task tray and there are 2 things greyed out as seen in the following screencap:

I've reinstalled Vista twice with all the drivers in order to make sure it wasn't something with the initial install. The tablet buttons work fine on the front and I can rotate the screen with that. But I would like this to work the way it should by just flipping the screen. I also tested the magnet on the body of the laptop to make sure that works and when I put a magnet on the front near the latch it puts the computer to sleep so I know that works.

I have searched the forum as well as the internet and cannot find anything that is related to this problem. Please help!

    My system info:

    Model: CF-19CDBAXVM
    Bios: V1.01L15
    EC: V1.10L11

    Thanks!

First, you have the "Keep Angle" radio button clicked, so try to check "Primary Landscape" for laptop mode, and "Secondary Landscape" in Tablet mode. Let us know if that helps...

Doobi thanks for the reply. I can choose secondary landscape for tablet mode and it does, indeed, rotate 180 degrees when the lid is flipped over. The problem is I can't tick the radio buttons in either one of the portrait choices for tablet mode. I can for laptop mode. The choices are greyed out for tablet even if I choose any one of the modes in laptop mode.

I've reinstalled Vista twice after and the problem still persists. I've followed the install order of the drivers to the T including all the .bat and .reg files in order.

    Just use the front buttons

I have the same issue with my cf-19, under xp and vista
It will rotate 180, but not 90

I have done the correct restore and updates and the screen is still greyed out for those options

Alex, thanks for your reply. That's what I kind of figured. It's no biggie that I have to hit the button to rotate the display. I even took out the rotation tool because it was conflicting with the button. When I would hit the button to rotate the screen it would blink in portrait then go back to landscape.

Since my last post I figured getting the flip-over rotation was a lost cause. I have since installed Windows 7 RTM from my MS Technet Plus account. The CF19 runs much snappier with it installed. If anyone wants, I can post a tutorial on how to install Windows 7 on the CF19 as well as the driver order. Let me know as I have done it with the RC and now the RTM. The driver order is basically the same minus the signed drivers Win7 installs for some of the hardware.
