    Does anyone know where to find a replacement bios battery for the CF-28? I would suspect it's the same for the CF-29, but not sure.

    $9.00 for a stupid battery? ha, I'd much rather find a cr2032, and solder on some leads to it.

    I do appreciate the link though, if I was someone else, I might be willing...

    I just can't bring myself to spend $9.00 for a battery that's USED. I figured that if I found one online, I'd buy two or three, and have some spares around... I've got a used one from another parts laptop, but again, why bother with used, just replace the thing......

    Yeah, no doubt. I believe my CF-29 clock battery might be suspect as well.

    I might do some checking.

    I'd really like to get my "new" CF-29 back in 100% running shape. Alot of travel coming up this year and don't want to be fighting a dead battery along the way.

    I actually have some significant news on the subject, yet no batteries for under the $10.00 mark yet.

    I've found the connector's part number, so I can make them myself. And inside that yellow heatshrink, is a CR-2032 3V Lithium battery, just as I suspected. So, soon enough, I'll have some way to replace the thing.

    I'm going to be opening up a store for toughbook aftermarket parts, and I'll have the batteries up there for certain. I'm trying to get around the $5.00 mark so that people can willingly buy a couple to keep around... $10.00 is hard to buy more then 1 or 2, and I know alot of people have way more then 2 TB's in this forum.

    If I have to crimp the connectors, and solder them to the batteries myself, I will.

    I found some on ebay for a Thinkpad. I am not sure about the connector. It looks the same other than the red and black may be reversed, which is easy to correct. I have not installed mine yet.
    I got a NEW cr2025 version for $2.49. I should have got the cr2032, but the voltage is the same, so it won't make any real difference.
    The NEW cr2032 version goes for $2.95

    CR2025 = Diameter: 20 mm. Thickness: 2.5 mm. Capacity: 160 mAh,

    CR2032 = Diameter: 20 mm. Thickness: 3.2 mm. Capacity: 220 mAh

    Very nice, that's it!

    From as best I can tell from the pictures, it looks like the polarity is correct, but I'd verify with multimeter.

    I was looking for a CR2032-LC1, which is the proper battery (and leads), but I can't find it for below $10.00, they are used on the Sony PS3.

    Again, when I get my other Toughbook aftermarket stuff, I'll have these, assuming I can get a decent stock from this guy, it'll be the same price, I'm not looking to hose anyone, or make a profit.

    I did that once for a Thinkpad. I didn't want to spend the money for a heat shrink battery when I had a lot of various "coin" batteries on hand.

    All I did was slice the heat shrink down the middle and quickly soldered the replacement battery to the leads. A little electrical tape and the sliced heat shrink was good to go. It lasted for a long while till I stopped using the Thinkpad.

    I found the correct ones direct from China (Sony battery) for $.013 each so the people selling these for $9.99 are making a bit of profit!

    I have no connection to the seller. But I have sold stuff on auction sites like EBay before.

    You might not realise it, but what you're actually paying for is the seller's time to create the listing and process your order.

    Shouldn't take more then a few moments. Plus, I'd never sell a used disposable battery that's as cheap as a CR-2032 on eBay. I don't mean to flame, but that auction is just ridiculous. even if I'm paying for the time to create the auction, it's just a little silly.

    I'd love to find that price on a minimum of like, 50 - 100... I just can't find it.

    Solder it and shrink-wrap it.... Just go to Radio Shack and get it done...

    Just did one on my CF-M34. Soldered and heat shrink tubing. Put a small cut piece of tubing between the hot/neutral to be sure they don't touch. Put it all back together and typing on it now.

    I hope youre not soldering directly to the battery. You need to make sure you get a battery with pre spotwelded tabs.

    Soldered directly to the battery. Just have to be quick, pre-solder the tabs and be quick about soldering to the battery. Too much heat make battery go BOOM [from what I understand].

    I did a quick solder to mine. It's more of the pressure from the electrical tape that binds it together.

    Tough-2-go, I didn't realize that some of these 'button batteries' have pre-spotwelded tabs. Will probably strip the shrink off a dead batt from the M34 to have a look.

    Lpspinner, does the soldered point hold without the tape? Regular solder or with silver?

    You can solder to them if you know what you are doing... The right temps and are quick!
