Need some guidance here, please. I installed GOBI 1000 card on sled in my CF-30 WWAN ready TB. Set DIP switches, enabled in BIOS, and unit shows in Device Manager. But for the life of me, I cannot find the drivers for this thing! I've tried CSA, QDLoader, Windows 7 DVD, etc. If anyone can help me finish this install, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just short of taking this sled out and using it for target practice for my AR!![]()

Is it a Panasonic Gobi card? What is the full model # of the CF-30? What is the device description in the device manager?

How did you Set DIP switches?
I also tried the GOBI card with CF-19 MK1 and CF-18 MK4, DIP switches were set to:
1 = off
2 = on
3 = on
4 = off
I got the same results. -
I think it's Windows 7 that is making this difficult. I've tried all the different DIP switch settings, OFF/ON/OFF/ON right now, supposedly the settings for EV-DO. I just ordered an unlocked Sierra WWAN module to try. I think it works with Windows 7. db04p71 (fellow Texan)
has been a big help in trying to get the correct drivers, but no luck yet.

Hey everyone, how's it goin-
So I've just finished installing win 7 32b onto my CF-30FASAXAM and everything works (OEM Bluetooth, OEM GPS, smart card, SD card, Intel ABG wifi) except the WWAN card. WWAN is enabled in BIOS, as well as device manager showing 'HP un2400 Mobile Broadband Module' being attached, but no drivers assigned. All Panasonic software has been installed as per Rob's Tough Wiki guide to installing Win 7 on a cf-30 mk2.
I have the same problem as this thread's original poster, when I installed Qualcomm drivers DM showed the WWAN card as being 'Qualcomm HS-USB Modem', but it still won't talk to any Connection software (verizon, att, etc).
Looked over at Panasonic's site, tried to follow their process but I still end up with 'No GOBI device found' when I try to install any CSA stuff. I'm back to square one, with Device manager showing 'HP un-2400 mobile broadband module' and no dice on getting WWAN to work. I've physically confirmed the presence of the card above the battery in its tray, antenna is hooked up.
Not sure how it was resolved, hopefully someone can shed some light.
THanks and this is a great forum...

No, I haven't... my OS and CF-30 are 32 bit, but I'll give it a shot
-
yah, no dice... still hacking away... damn this WWAN crap lol
-
Doubtful you will get an HP Gobi card to work in a Panasonic computer.
-
I didn't think the actual cards were proprietary... man that sucks. So you recommend acquiring a genuine GOBI Panasonic card, then? Not a big deal, but if there is a way to make this one work I would prefer that.
-
Most, if not all, Gobi cards are locked to a particular computer brand. I have not been able to get an HP card to work in my Panasonic computers, nor have I heard of anyone else succeeding. I use Gobi 1000 in my CF-19 Mk2 and my CF-30 Mk2. Both are Panasonic cards.

Thanks for the heads up!
what's another 60 bucks into the money pit... haha
THanks guys -
BTW, what is your bios and ec version? The Mk2 may require an update for Gobi.

A huge THANK-YOU to Rob!!! I received my Gobi card today, installed it and downloaded the CSA software. At first I had the dip switches backwards, so when I tried to instal CSA it would throw an error message: "There is not the wireless WAN device supported by this software". After changing the dip switch (only 2 switches on my CF-W8) it installed without a hitch. When the dip switches were wrong, the WWAN device still showed up in BIOS and device manager. So if you are seeing these devices in those two places, but can't get it to work, just try changing those dip switches.
On my W8 switch one is off and two is on. Black antenna wire goes to black triangle and white to white.
Big thanks again to Rob!! -
I'm glad it's working! Rep points are always welcomed too
Thanks again! -
Ok, well the Gobi 2000 card doesn't work either. I think I've got BIOS issues, like db says but i'm just getting to know toughbooks (on this level) so I can't be sure.
here's a shot of PC info, not sure if I have the right bios
On a side note, I installed the Samsung 256gb SSD and it is awesome... holy cow this thing is fast. battery life is amazing, also. Used Acronis DIsk Migrate, worked flawlessy. THis screenshot is with bluetooth, WLAN, and the gps tracking in MS Street & Trips on.

hardware id
-
Do you know what the Gobi 2000 card came from? Or is it an "unlocked" card from eBay? That Id seems to point to Fujitsu.
-
No, I can't confirm the source. Yes, fleabay item... I know, I know.
-
Dear Rob, please sell me a REAL Panasonic Gobi card...
-
Rob, indeed, REPS to you!!! Thanks again!

Ok, so after screwing with this hog for a few hours, I've had some success.
I uninstalled the qualcomm drivers in add/remove programs in order to get the Gobi card back to 'dumb' status in device manager, with no drivers installed and just the computer seeing it as being physically installed.
Google'd the hardware id, found a driver package that is assigned to a LFujitsu lifebook T580 and installed them, rebooted (fun with SSD). Device manager then showed the Gobi card assigned on Com ports 6 and 9, which was a change from my previous driver installs which assigned com ports 8 and 9 to the card.
Next I google'd 'vzw connection manager panasonic toughbook' and downloaded the 2470a VZW Access Manager package from Verizon, then installed it. rebooted.
After initially running the VZW manager, it wanted to control Wifi, disabled that, then let the VZW manager initialize my Gobi card. Pretty easy. Now it reads the network, I click on 'Connect' in the VZW manager and it asks me if I want to sign up, so I ASSUME at this point that it's working.
Couple of screenshots of the driver package from googling hardware ID and the package from verizon, and you can see that the card is talking to the computer with the right driver, as well as Verizon's software talking to the card and network.
guess I need a verizon account now. -
Congratulations, it looks like you got it worked out. I guess Fujitsu doesn't lock their cards to the bios.
-
THanks for all the pointers.
Probably need to give verizon the IMEI number and should be good to go... we'll see. -
Well, went to the verizon store to see what was up with my card, since it wouldnt allow me sign up remotely. Turns out that this card is not listed in verizon's master list of all their esn/wireless devices.
Back to square one. -

K, thanks Rob
