712 charges is well used, I think they normally have 70000ish capacity, so its probably got almost 20-30% wear which isnt too bad, youd probably get like 2-3 hours

thank you Connor922 for the quick reply. I just found this battery sitting in a file cabinet under well you know and bunch of folders. the other battery I had could only hold a charge of about 20 seconds.

No that is not normal, sounds like the battery stats were from the last refresh which was probably some time ago, a refresh on a good battery would take at least 3-4 hours, if it only took 25 minutes its probably shot and you'll be lucky to get 30 min of runtime out of it, sorry for the bad news :(

How do you guys figure out the battery information? And is it only on a Panasonic ToughBook, or is this a generalized utility?

For Toughbooks there is a utility, downloadable from Panasonic driver sites, called "PC information viewer" which will give you most of the information on your battery. There is also a general app.called "Battery Bar" which also works well.

HI: If you are looking for anew battery see my posts for (sparkwrite). These batteries have Sanyo cells. A little more expensive but a third the cost of the Panasonic from Heartland. Spark

Is that total charge index information stored in the battery itself? I have 2 main batteries. Can the CF 29 keep the information separate from the 2 batteries? Is there any reason to recalibrate/refresh both batteries or will than just confuse the battery meter in XP? I just got a Fleabay OEM 6600 mAh blue tab battery for $16.00. It shows a total charge index of 2. Did I get a new battery?

Sparkwrite may be right about the Idaho batteries--I'm NOT doubting his experience in the least. But Battery Universe (the source of the Idaho Batteries) has some mixed reviews on the web. I only know b/c I was going to buy a high capacity batt from them but got cold feet after reading some of the reviews--anonymous and unverifiable ones, to be sure.

I'd keep your eye on Ebay, not that it's a sure thing. But I just got a used yellow tab for about $49, and it's showing over six hours after a recalibration. I ordered a second one from the same guy--his last one, at least as of yesterday.

The information has to be stored in the battery, it always shows up correctly regardless of the machine you put the battery in. You do have a "new" battery, but that does not mean its a "good" battery.

    Hmm...
"will not return phone calls. took money from a 16 year old and will not send batties. it my daughter frist job she walks about 5 miles to work and back she saved her money to get her schotter going and she is out about $80.00 now. poor bussness" (web review of Battery Universe)
Now, we've got Gork!, apparently no dummy, and a couple of other members reporting very good luck with this firm, against this unsigned review. I can't for the life of me think who I should believe.

I totally understand about not knowing if it's "good". I guess I will find out. I figured for $16.00 it was worth the gamble.

Apologies for being late to the party but I had never paid much attention to the Battery Status tab on the PC Information Viewer.
    I've got a blue tab CF-VZSU29A in my CF-29 mk.3
I was excited to see the Total Charge Index was only 9. Then I noticed the Full Charged Capacity was 48050 which is 10000 less than the OPs stats. Is this the difference between blue and yellow tab batteries? Or is my battery little used but old?
