    1. How do you know the MK of a model , wther it is MK 1,2,or 3?

    2. I just bought a CF-30 on ebay with the designation CF-30KCP542M and a separate recovery disk labeled MK3-SP2M and DFQM8449MA. will this disk work with my model?

I ask because my old CF-28 finally went out and I need to hit the ground running with this laptop (transfer files, programs, licenses, etc) and it comes with vista installed (uggh!) which half my programs don't work on. Could I use the recovery disk I bought to get a fresh installation of XP. and by the way I have 3 XP licenses and Serials.

    thanks
    Rick

    Lucky You
    A new Cf-30 mk-3 with most options :)
    What an upgrade

    C and D Mk-1
    F and G Mk-2
    K,L and P Mk-3

It will most likely work as you have a mk-3
You will find out soon enough when you boot to the recovery disk
If itÂ’s wrong it will inform you and not restore
No worries on windows license key ,I looked you model up and you are licensed for either xp or Vista

I'm not 100% sure... But I think if you have Vista installed... That means that you have your BIOS flashed to install Vista. You may need the XP Downgrade BIOS flash to use the recovery disks. Like I said... I am not 100% sure about that but be prepared.

That is applicable on the cf-19 mk-1 and cf-30mk-1
They must of fixed the issues on the mk-2 and newer models

Well I hope I don't have to flash the bios I don't like doing it unless necessary. and yeah it was an upgrade my cf-28 was a 600mhz but it was fast. I had a very clean install of xp with no unecessary services running and no bloatware, very lean. I need this sucker to last as long my cf-28 did.

You'll love it! The brighter screen alone is worth it. It will be a huge step up from your 600MHz 28.
