    @ 229ramesh
I moved your other post and merged it to this post as it was in the wrong thread
    Anyway
    I will answer your questions
To find your model number you can look on the bottom of the cf-29
You will see the model number on a tag on the bottom
If by chance its removed hit F2 while booting and it is listed on the first bios screen
Look further in the bios options and see if touchscreen is listed

    As to W7
Read this thread , its a sticky
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/pan...sting-ultimate-toughbook-resource-thread.html

Look for the link W7 status
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/471307-w7-issues-toughbook-model-status.html

Then when you know your model # look up in that thread if W7 works fine, or if there are known issues
Most members here have done all the research so you may get lucky and find their tips for install
Just read the members post in that thread

Step 1 - Read the Toughbook Resource Thread. It's the one labeled *READ BEFORE POSTING*
Step 2 - Read the CF-29 FAQ. You don't have to read the entire thread; although there is a ton of useful information in here.
Step 3 - Find your ToughBook's complete model # from the data plate on the bottom or from within the BIOS; use that to determine which Mk your ToughBook is.
Step 4 - Please come back with some knowledge and ask questions which don't demand that we spoon feed you information which is readily available from the above resources.
Step 5 - Use that knowledge to request in our forum, or search on eBay, for the CORRECT XP Recovery Disks for your Mk of CF-29.

Thank you for not expecting us to be your unpaid Panasonic ToughBook Support Center.

    mnem
Addendum: Win 7 is a work in progress; we don't HAVE a Step-By-Step for every Mk of CF-29, as we haven't yet successfully installed (As in EVERY major feature of the ToughBook working) Win7 on every Mk of CF-29.

If it's WWAN ready, yes. The antenna is on the top left corner of the lid.

Your CF-29LTQGZBM is not WWAN ready.

Right, worth a shot. Ta, mate.

It was sold as wireless ready, figured that meant wwan along with wifi.

    MSRP: $4,488
Description: Intel Pentium M 778 1.6GHz LV (Centrino), 13.3" XGA Touch Screen, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, Intel 802.11a+b+g WLAN, Windows XP Pro SP2 , No Optical Drive

Like that's something new. ;)

When considering buying a Toughbook (such as the CF-29 in discussion here) from ebaY, Craig's List, etc., always ask for the unit's actual Model Number (such as the CF-29LTQGZBM here) and check Panasonic's Mobile Computing Configurator (remembering to enter the exact Model Number; including the hyphen "-"; otherwise you will get the dreaded "circling dots" and " No results found" error message  :().

If the Model Number doesn't show up there (as they have reworked the MCC and Special Order/Custom Built machines ho longer appear :(), try decompiling the Model Number using ToughWiki.

If that still leaves unanswered questions, come here; as someone here usually can provide the info you seek in order to make your purchase "Go Well; Be Happy." ;)

The " z" in the ninth (9th) character position of your Model Number means "None Installed" (WWAN and/or GPS).

If it were " x" it would have been "Wireless Ready" (i.e.: the WWAN antenna would already be installed and the sled connector would be present).

The Fully Rugged line of Panasonic Toughbooks weren'r built to be "modded" to any degree; that's why they're TOUGH!

Overall, "mods" are quite limited in the Fully Rugged line.

Well, i have a sata ssd in mine, a homemade mic, a webcam is currently wip, a fingerprint reader is currently wip, i'm planning a proper gps, waiting for an emissive kb. Right, i swapped out the speaker too.

Are those enough mods for you?

Btw, whats the fastest ram the mk4 can take? Cause i've got a 800mhz module i dont use. There's a 533mhz module in it now.

RAM is backwards compatible; but the system will still only run at bus speed.

BTW: the Mk4 and Mk5 CF-29 units that are OEM'd with 256MB Base RAM will usually handle a 2GB DDR2 SODIMM (but they're funny about the RAM's source: Crucial seems to work in most all cases).

This will give you a usable RAM of 2GB (even if you don't actually need it ;)).

For some unknown reason, the forum software has started substituting the avatar for the "SigPic" you have previously been uning.

    Just another "Forum Upgrade."

Strange as it may seem, i knew that. The reason i asked was because its bloody useless to use a 800mhz module if its just being clocked down. Now i checked and i will remove the 800mhz module and reinstall the old one, since it only runs at 400mhz anyway.

Yeah, i tried close to thirty different ram modules but it didn't work. Then again, i have the 512mb model. So I there wasn't much chance of it happening anyway. But one hour work for even the slim chance was a small price to pay.

You could have saved yourself all that wasted time and effort on the 512MB machine:

It's never a waste of time if you learn something. It's about the challenge and the willingness to look at the same problem differently than everyone else.
Everyone said you can't put a dvd drive in the floppy caddy on a cf29, but I did it anyway. What about the first guy to try the larger than specified ram stick. At that time, Everyone told him that it won't work. Never give up trying. The personal satisfaction of one success eliminates the memory of those stepping stones others call failure.

SBC stands for Southwestern Bell Corporation, which became SBC Communications Inc. (1995), then AT&T (2005).
