So I wanna start using my CF-30 as a music station when in my new truck to interface to the radio in the truck. I've downloaded a program called mobile impact and it runs best at 800x600. I like using 1024x768 however for all my work during the day.

I don't wanna have to manually change the resolution EVERY time I get in and out of my truck a million times a day.

Any way to make it a hotkey to change between the two resolutions? (like alt 2 or control 5, etc...)

P.S, I've tried this program and it didn't work... when I went back to 1024x768 I just got an error: http://techie-buzz.com/softwares/how-to-change-windows-screen-resolutions-using-hotkeys.html

I am sure could probably easily just write a batch file to do it. Just create an icon associated with a batch file and then you could just double click on the appropriate icon to change resolution.... Anything fancier and you better call upon Mnem's brain!

Did you follow this link and try "Resolution"?

"Resolution enables you to change the desktop resolution on a system where you don't have permissions to change the desktop resolution.Instantly change your desktop resolution! Automatically change your screen resolution to the correct size. Resolution automatically changes your screen to the correct size. Change your screen resolution to any size! Instantly adjust your screen resolution the size you want."

It sounds like the solution to your problem.

That wouldn't work... I want to use hotkeys to change the resolution... that program I tried that didn't work 100% had a tiny little program in the sys tray that communicated with the system... That's more like what I'm looking for.

Hey Rob, have you tried this trick. It may let the program run at the default resolution. It will for sure allow you to run at 640x480, but I know that you want 800x600.

If you have the Intel tray icon you can set up schemes with different resolutions so you would just right-click on the tray icon and run your preferred scheme. You can also set up an application to run when selecting the scheme. This works in XP not sure about W7

Batch file are great as they are just Windows commands that act as you program them. I have several custom ones.... Dump temp files, dump prefetch files, restart, turn off, etc.... You can really do anything you want..... Just write it and go...

Supposedly, meiWDS will run on Vista/Win7; seems to me you need to get a CF-WD07 Wireless Display & you'll be all set since it automatically adjusts the desktop size when you connect or disconnect the display.

The only thing that would be better is HUD with voice command...

mnem, if I bought one of these mysterious wireless displays for my truck would that be a good idea do you think? That would be cool because I can run the front end software on that screen and have it permanently mounted and just toss the toughbook behind the seat...

Let me know more about these magical wireless displays. How much are they? I only really need to be able to touch through all my music through the mobile impact software.

    Rob,

Sounds similar to what I want to do. Make a basic "carputer" with the CF-29 mounted in a port replicator under the seat. Then I'd have it go up to a double DIN touchscreen with DVD and Stereo. Then you could control your CF-29 via the touchscreen and/or wireless keyboard. If you need the laptop to go... Just unhook and take it with you.... When you get back... Pop it back in the port replicator and you're up and running again.

That's what I plan on in my next truck.

I don't wanna tear apart the dash though... I like the stock stereo in this thing... it has satellite radio too.... so I wanna just use the little audio cable into the front of the dash.

    Rob - still pondering...

P.S, I need to buy a gold plated cable because I'm getting weird feedback from this crappy HP cable that I got for free lol
