I looked in the CF-29 thread and couldn't find the answer. Perhaps I skimmed over it. In any case, I have a CF-29 MK 3 as mentioned in my signature below.

I looked on the Panasonic website and they said to use CF-WMBA5512 or CF-WMBA501G. I tried both of them and they do not fit. These (2) RAM modules are DDR2 4200.

I went to Crucial's website and they said to use DDR 2700. I don't have any of this Memory to try but, do you know if this is the one to use?

I know that maximum I could obtain is 1.5Gb (512Mb on board and a 1Gb stick).

I believe its the MK4 and MK5 models that use the DDR2 RAM!

I have a Mk3 and it takes the DDR. What Panasonic site did you check?

What type of memory can be used in the CF-29 Toughbook?
This depends on the specific model number:

    CF-29C/D -- PC2100 DDR SDRAM

    CF-29E/F -- PC2700 DDR SDRAM

    CF-29H/J -- PC2700DDR SDRAM

    CF-29L/M -- PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM

    CF-29N/P -- PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM

Of course, you can use the PC2700 DDR SODIMM in the Mk1 (CF-29C/D), as well; it's backwards compatible.

As noted: the Mk1-Mk3 take DDR, while the Mk4-Mk5 take DDR2 (and "NO!" the DDR2 will not work in place of DDR!)
