    Pappy -

Like I said in my post - it depends on how much RAM you have installed. The more RAM, the less Windoze needs to hit the swapfile on the HD - this is where HD speed comes into play.

Yup... The faster your hard drive the faster pretty much everything happens because it can access the info faster.

I do have a 7200 rpm, 100GB hard drive and I want to stuff in the 1GB of RAM... Are you saying you don't think I'll see that much of a difference? I'd bet I do.

TB - no, more the other way around. If you max out your RAM, the faster HD won't make much difference except at bootup.
As for most of what people do in Windows, once you get above half a gig, NO - you really won't see that much difference unless you are a freak like me who keeps 20 windows & tabs open at the same time... try watching your Windows Task Manager / Performance Tab for a while... see how much unused RAM you usually have. It's a sobering experience, especially when you think (as I have) about how much that 2GB pair of Dual-Channel RAM (in my case) cost... :err:

Well... I typically keep 3-5 tabs open all the time... Ebay, AOL, This forum, and then others like hackaday and also Google. On top of that I am normally working in Photoshop and Word. At least!

Yeah... I gotta a lot going on... yup... yup...

Properly cooked potstickers are steamed, then fried. Steamed potstickers are... wonton.

Here we go with the chopsticks again...
