What's the ugliest Toughbook you got?
Nothing painted ugly colors or such..
I mean ratty looking, rigged together. Bailing wire and duct tape type of machine.

-
Mine is pretty rough looking. It was dropped a few times... and that was before I got my rough paws on it.
No duct tape, just nicks and scratches galore. The touchscreen is perfect though. -
This is the real work of art and workmanship: LOT OF (3) 1-OF-A-KIND CF-29 LIDS PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK - eBay (item 320658696802 end time Feb-22-11 02:12:52 PST)

Modly! Nice to see you!

I don't drive my hearse as much anymore, so I don't use the toughbook much anymore as a result. I just use it to jtag flash firmware onto stuff now, and it serves as a convenient place to sit my ESEE-6 knife and Glock 19 on when I'm at home -
sounds like you're trying to drum up business for your ride. please pick up the toughbook hobby again as many of us are appreciative of all the effort you've put into this forum. as for myself, I've got tons more to learn and read threads and faq's often. .........Driller

Speaking of Glocks... I'm going to get my G34 today
... well sign the paperwork and wait 3 days
... I didn't like the Glock 19 as much as the 17... Too small. But to each his own
-
They actually let you have one of those in The People's Republic of Illinois?
-
Yes... Illinois is one of two places in the world where they require you to have a firearms card too... Illinois and Cuba... Hmmmm, can you see where we're heading yet?? FM L!
-
I'm up here in Wisconsin where things aren't much better. We at least have a new gov/legislature that have promised us CCW by the end of the year.
-
any of you guys heard about the VA asking some of the viet nam vets if they felt stressed out, threatened or upset enuf to want to hurt anybody in interviews(triage) by nurses prior to seeing an MD? 3 questions that if answered yes to any one of them would record it in their medical records and then a report would be sent to dept of homeland for revocation of CCW. listing in same category as a terrorist suspect. think about that a bit, you served your country and what happens, this is being pushed by our present admimistration......Driller

Deere,
This doesn't QUITE fit the rat part. This is the 29 that I did the crack repair thread on. It sat in a corner stripped and finally I found an extra MB. It has a hokey password program on it. I don't know the password but can [Esc] around it. The palm rest is my first attempt....except for the two pieces in the garbage out of view to the right. TS doesn't work yet. Worn backlit keyboard.
Combo saddle shop and computer clean room. The white backgound is snow.

I like the wood gripped tool on the right. I suppose you use that for the disobedient mice.
BTW thanks..For a moment, I thought this plane was headed for Cuba. -
I like your rat mod..........Driller

39 I'd just come in from the barn, taken it from my pocket and forgot it was there until I looked at the photo. Posted it to stir this post up a little.
Your turn now add something to "NOW WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT". Talk about a fizzle. Driller,Topcop,Deere you all have little tricks. Post the story of how you figured them out. -
HeHeHeHe, did you say little tricks? where have I heard that before? Wish I had one of those in my pocket too. H&K 70VPZ is the closest thing to a glock I got, then there's the S&W 19 combat grips, and the H&K 4, choose the calibre you want, .22,.25,.32,.380. but I really like the rock&roll. Didn't play ball as a kid, everybody was military and target shooting was how we passed the time.........Where were we, oh yes, toughbooks and rat rods, the ugliest one I got is a cf-29 with 960 hours and beat to hello and back, but works like a champ.........Driller

It's the one tool I don't mind showing newbies how to shoot (the semi's are not the best or safest to learn on)
I didn't play with balls either as a kid , I had guns
mmen......
Ah, the smell of coffee and gunpowder in the morning -
I always thought the SS 686 S&W was a lovely pistol. Looked a long time at the 44 mag version but too many friends said it hurt their wrists to shoot it. The .357 was a really good round and used to shoot the wadcutters for practice. Then I found out how apparently rare these rounds were. My SBC cf-29 is another rat rod that I have with the crack over the battery bay but touchscreen works as well as everything else does. My MD buddy calls this OCD jumping from subject to subject. But he's on his third marriage......Driller

Alright..I guess if we are headed to Cuba, I might as well learn Spanish.
I don't have any expensive handguns, but I have a few handguns. I suppose my fav is my North American arms 22cal revolver. It's smaller than a Texas belt buckle and has 5 shots. They actually sell belt buckles that the guns attach to. You never know it's real handgun. Gotta love that laser site on a 1" barrel handgun.

All nice arms. But make mine a 1911A1.

Man, I am awesome at derailing threads
I plan on buying a second 1911 this year (I gave one to my brother last year for his birthday), being that it is now the 100th anniversary of the 1911. The Kimber 1911's are dead on the nuts accurate. -
hey deere245, that NA arms .22 would fit nicely in the mp bay inside a floppy case. I'm sure you could rig up a spring loaded attachment to dispense it perhaps with a hotkey combination and eject sequence. The door might have to be modded so it doesn't accidently fire. If you can figure this out all toughbooks would be put on a list at the terminals. A new kind of body cavity search I believe is in order. Not to worry, a toughbook can survive! TomCat57, since you like cats the toughbook is getting the rep for having 9 lives. Modly, anything that resembles a 1911A1 I like. Have a spec ops buddy that found a WWI vintage one in cosmoline couple of years back in a footlocker with the WWI uniform with it. Toughbooks and tactics. A new name for the thread..........Driller

can't remember for sure I think AMT made one called a longslide version similar to this. Still love the springfield though. I know at least I think these springfields are not same as the old 1903 bolt action 30-06 that I fell for at a younger age. smooth action and deadly accurate. anything springfield is a good bet...Driller

I had my hands on a 9mm Springfield 1911 the other day. Very nice.

I'm probably the only one here who carried a Singer Sewing Machine 1911A1 for 3 years. I tried every way I could to bring that home with me, but Uncle Sugar took it back. I think it's worth a lot of dough now, 3 digit serial number and all.
CAP -
20+ years with a variety of manufacturer's A1s - then had to switch to the M9 -- not a bad gun but no where near the hitting power of the .45. I ran across an old Warrant Officer who was retiring and still had the .45 he brought back from Korea. All military markings and in great condition. He wanted a good military home for it, so I lucked out. I've been offered $2k for it. You can find Singer's with all the military markings but, you're right, the low serial number won't be easy or cheap. Thanks for your service. -
Old news but the leather deal HAS been done.
