Hey guys - I have a friend that I built a CF29 for that called me yesterday about an issue - apparently while he had it plugged it somebody took out a power pole up the street, said the power went on and off a couple of times then off for an hour. He said he unplugged the unit and ran on battery for that time and then when the power came back on he plugged it back in. Said he is getting a solid RED light for the battery indicator, this is only when plugged in and the battery is showing 80% charged. Only time I have seen the red light is when on battery and it is about to go dead and I have seen it flash when the battery wont take a charge. Any ideas.?

    Thanks -

    Mmmmhmmm...

If you're close enuf, go visit and try swapping out AC adapters & batteries with him (if you have compatible machine). This would help zero in on the source of the problem, as it could be any one of the three.

Take a multimeter to make sure the AC adapter is putting out the correct voltage... Then I would take the battery out and let everything sit for about 20 minutes. Strange but true, this can fix a variety of ills.

The AC adapter may have taken a spike... I doubt it would have transferred to the battery but it might have. Also try to swap batteries if possible with a known good one.

Update - my guy is apparently color blind !!!!!!!
    - light was orange like it should have been after being on battery for 2 hours - dude still swears the bright orange light is RED! - he had a big gun on him so I did not argue.
I just told him it was OK.

Thanks again for the advise - always appriciated

I seriously suggest selling to a different crowd. In the rare chance something goes wrong that you did not expect it sucks to have customers with large firearms awaiting your response. It gives a whole new meaning to "All sales final", yeah final for the seller!
