So I'm used to CF 19/29's that have rubber keyboards. Some of the newer 29/30's I have though, are hard keyboards with normal keys. The issue I have is.. When I am trying to removing the keyboard for service, I bend the metal back of these hard keyboards.. Leaving it raised in certain areas and not quite the same when I put it back.

Is there a preferred method for this?

These things slide/lock in on the CF-29/30... they have two metal hooks that hook in... Once you remove the little plastic strip above the keyboard then SLIDE the keyboard up at a 4-6 degree angle.

    That's how I do it! :)

I used a hair dryer to soften the tape that was holding mine in place and then a piece of flexible strap I cut from a load of bricks to gently pry it from the case surface.

Lift up from the center a couple of inches and pull back
That way you release from the tabs on the sides

Actually they are taped down in the CF-29 and are slide-lock in the CF-30... IF they are the stock (Not illuminated) keyboard.

You can carefully pry up with your hands and fingers and can hear the tape giving way. It may take you 3-5 minutes to remove the keyboard. I made a very thin aluminum (almost "feeler gauge" like) tool to get under the keyboard to release the more stubborn tape. 99% of keyboards can be removed with no muss no fuss and if minor bending occurs... You can easily reshape it. However... That 1%... You'll either end up with a non-functional keyboard or a "Mr. Bendy" Type that will work but looks ugly.
