I haven't had any expereience with the specific Caig product you're contemplating - but Caig has a great reputation for its other products. Probably safe. Give them a call, their customer support is good also.

Toughbook Rick has done this repair

I don't think that it cost him $25 for what he used though

Naah; what Rick has repaired is rips in the outer membrane of the rubberized keyboard. He does it with [EDIT] black Silicone RTV sealant.

This is a completely different product; I've used it. If you've ever taken apart a remote control for a TV, VCR, cable box, etc that uses a rubber membrane keypad, with very few exceptions the contact is made by a carbon polymer material applied to the keypad which contacts traces printed on the surface of the PCB. Like any moving part, these things wear. This is a chemical kit with prep solvent and new carbon polymer material to replace the worn off material so the remote works again.

Yes... I use black high temp RTV to repair rips and tears in the rubber keyboard. I use a toothpick to jam the RTV in the crack/split and then wiggle it back and forth to make sure it covers and adheres to all areas. Then I take a soft cloth and wipe up the excess. When I finish and it has cured... You cannot tell where there were ever splits or tears and it seems to hold on forever if done properly. I haven't had one come back apart.

I have a friend that went to clean his laptop screen on his €2,000.00 macbook that he had only 2 months. He used acid tone because he did not have isopropanol.

I seen the screen it had a hole in it where he had put the cloth down first.
