I haven't had any expereience with the specific Caig product you're contemplating - but Caig has a great reputation for its other products. Probably safe. Give them a call, their customer support is good also.

Toughbook Rick has done this repair
I don't think that it cost him $25 for what he used though -
Naah; what Rick has repaired is rips in the outer membrane of the rubberized keyboard. He does it with [EDIT] black Silicone RTV sealant.
This is a completely different product; I've used it. If you've ever taken apart a remote control for a TV, VCR, cable box, etc that uses a rubber membrane keypad, with very few exceptions the contact is made by a carbon polymer material applied to the keypad which contacts traces printed on the surface of the PCB. Like any moving part, these things wear. This is a chemical kit with prep solvent and new carbon polymer material to replace the worn off material so the remote works again.

Yes... I use black high temp RTV to repair rips and tears in the rubber keyboard. I use a toothpick to jam the RTV in the crack/split and then wiggle it back and forth to make sure it covers and adheres to all areas. Then I take a soft cloth and wipe up the excess. When I finish and it has cured... You cannot tell where there were ever splits or tears and it seems to hold on forever if done properly. I haven't had one come back apart.

I had an extra lying around i figure i would try it. I got your pm, but as mentioned just figured i would try to get it to work if its possible, its fun tinkering.
Will try that RTV stuff

COOL use for high temperature RTV, again, thanks man. Hope you're doing well in Md I presume. Put together a video or dvd on how to do gps internal for the cf-29's and I'd like to buy one....Driller

Anyone messed around with methyl chloride to do repairs. That stuff will melt just bout any plastic.
***DANGER - PELIGRO***
it's an organic solvent and is generally accepted as massively carcinogenic. -
I use MEK (Methel Ethel Ketone) to clean the lids of toughbooks some times...
Try using MEK on your Mac!

I think that should be included in the mac user manual and quick start guide.... -
"To clean the screen, be sure to use a soft terry cloth with some Methel Ethel"

I have a friend that went to clean his laptop screen on his €2,000.00 macbook that he had only 2 months. He used acid tone because he did not have isopropanol.
I seen the screen it had a hole in it where he had put the cloth down first. -
frig I thought the one bimbo in our Edmonton A/V lab was the only one dumb enough to do that on her loaded MBP 17
