Retro OD cf-18/19 carrying case

How about this for a retro cf-18/19 carrying case.

I bid and won a large online auction, a mix of different city department surplus, but including two truckloads of police surplus gear. Honestly, I bid on it mainly to get the baseball uniforms and bases, for the kids in the DR, but I’ve just finished three days of sorting. Not bad for $140 total investment.

One of the items was a collection of over a hundred assorted gas masks of various types, mainly US govt. surplus that was obtained and issued before 911. After 911, the masks were all new, with a big kit for chemical suit and what have you.

In trying to figure out what to do with all the other stuff, I found the green or OD canvas bags the masks came in fit the cf-18’s perfectly. They hold the laptop and the power adapter, and have both straps and three metal button closures.

I brought one to work with a cf-18 in it today, and was quite pleased with the way it works.

So the next question is how much you going to sell them for... ...you can have the mask

 

It reminds me of a much-missed elderly mentor from 1967 who used to bring his lunch and a few rusty nails to work in a battered and repaired WW1 gas mask bag.
Said it reminded him of a shed in France where a particularly short and universally despised officer conducted gas training.
This man's method was widely known - from the top of a wooden steps he would look down as the men waited for his permission to don the masks which they hoped might, with luck, prevent crippling lung injury from the gas which they would be able to see rising toward their faces.
Permission would not be given until the first few men were suffering symptoms.
One day the steps on which this officer stood unaccountably collapsed when the gas reached chest height of the men standing on the ground.
Sadly the officer's short stature and the crush of larger bodies left him unable to escape serious injury.
I wish I could remember more of my friend's stories.

Which is to say youre welcome to some of them, just say the word and I'll throw a few in the box.

Of course I could throw in a few other surplus items, say, your own aluminum ticket book holder, that way when your stopped for speeding, you could pull it out and when the officer approaches, just tell him his ticket isnt needed, your writing yourself one instead.. I think I have five of these....

 

And I have some nice police issue winter coats, some new, obviously not something Id pay to ship to the islands, so anyone in a cold climate could have one if I have one in their size. I think I have maybe twenty of these.

Winter Jackets too Hmm It will be winter here again in another 5 months or so. Large Tall or XL let me know Id be more than happy to help out the kids with a donation. I think it would look good with our EMT / Firefighter patches eh??

 

I'll go through the stack today and see what sizes they are and let you know. They should look good with the patches, are gortex with a zip out liner. These were the issue until seven months ago when they went to a fleece lightweight jacket, a separate outer jacket and a separate rain coat. Up until then, these served as all three. I think there are a few pair of the matching rain pants in the pile as well.

The one in the picture is marked size 44 but I have 44,44L,46XL,44R,LL,44R,44L,36R,48R,44L,46XL,XLR

Wished we would have something like that on this side of the pond!
