wow, quad-channel DDR3 2400Mhz w/ 8 (eight) slots, up to 64GB !! I would personally use a hardware raid card (and RAID 1 + hot spare)
kind of reminds me of the days of i486 when you were required to fill all 4 memory slots in order to achieve the required bandwidth for the cpu, if memory serves me right ... - 
 
 
Yes, EXTREME board with Xeon... I only got 20GB of RAM though. Don't need any more than that for now

I just did up my oldest son a gaming pc for Christmas. X6 amd 2.7, 16gb ddr3 ram, ssd drive, 970 motherboard. He still thinks he needs lots more, lol.
