    In today's article in ZDNet they report high-end SSD's use up to twice as much current as comparable HDDs - with an accompanying significant increase in operating temperatures.

    I agree, maybe in high end gaming laptops but I think you would see them more in desktop systems...

    The SSDs (Samsung) I use are spec'd like this...

    He he - that's a fan! Hmmm, now how do I fit that into my 1-unit high Cobalt raq4i web server! lol

    Seriously, I could perhaps see very early SSD's having noticable power usage, but current ones would be miserly on power. Otherwise we wouldn't see things like sd cards inside mobile phones, etc.
