In today's article in ZDNet they report high-end SSD's use up to twice as much current as comparable HDDs - with an accompanying significant increase in operating temperatures.

I agree, maybe in high end gaming laptops but I think you would see them more in desktop systems... -

Seriously, I could perhaps see very early SSD's having noticable power usage, but current ones would be miserly on power. Otherwise we wouldn't see things like sd cards inside mobile phones, etc.
