Hi All, today I had a super cheap low hours but low spec CF-31MZCAXF9 Mk2 arrive from Russia, still with Cyrillic on it![]()
W7 x64 Pro, and even with another laptop in English on the same pages I can't even figure out how to get the language pack installed to change the language to English without first learning to read Russian.
Even searching for "Russian word for United States" produces three different answers none of which are on the Languages list in Russian.
So I installed another HDD with W7 x64 Pro from my 19 Mk 5 then went to Panasonic looking for drivers - found the recovery disc download but despite it automatically recognising my Model & Serial numbers exactly and showing them on screen - it says they're wrong - would that be because of the different (but same make & size) disc - and if I'm not going to be able to create a disc what's my best option, given that so far I can't even tell which version of Mk2 it is?
And Panasonic's websites - is it just me or do you guys think they seem half derelict?

Hi, looking for advice - Touchscreen not showing in bios and taking the lid off I see the little flexible film connector to the touchscreen taped down to the housing with kapton next to the plug from the mobo (?)
The connector end shows no sign of ever having been plugged in to a socket so guessing it may have been sold in Russia as non-touch?
Simplified manual lists two possible touch screen controller units:
- for CF-31JEGAXDM it's DL3UP1827CAA
- for CF-31KQH41DM it's DL3UP2079BAA
Both look to me like Mk2 model numbers going by what's on Panny driver sites but idk - both listed as part E10 on drawing but I've no idea what the difference is.
Mine's a CF-31MZCAXF9. Mk2, only 1700 hours & looks it so I don't mind spending on it.
I'm hoping that installing the correct board will make TS show in bios and the machine will then accept the drivers - any chance?
And if anyone has a TS controller unit for sale and is willing to post it to the UK I'd be very grateful. -
I've modified several 29/30 ....possibly a 31.
It's magic....but I'm not finding a part for you. Ebay gets harder to use the more they upgrade it.
I'll poke around in the bits and bites (sic) of my saddleshop. Hmmmm wait just a minute now...there was that 31G with the pickaxe hole in the roof...muttering and wandering off looking for it.
What-a-ya know about that. Found it straight-away but it's non-touch....well no tspcb anyway...it does have a fpc coming from the screen section. This would be the one with the moisture between layers of the lcd...yes the lcd. Remember the pickaxe hole? Nice lid anyway.
Maybe I put the tspcb in the MK1 i3...muttering and wandering away.
Second edit: I found a pcb for a CF-30 and confirmed that the 31 pcb went into my i3.
Sorry 'bout that...if you buy an upper for your unit make sure it came from a touch unit.Last edited: Mar 13, 2019 -
Good of you to go to all that trouble Sheepman, thanks!
I've got some feelers out other places now so optimistic I'll find one.
Cf-31 has been in production about 8 years hasn't it?
Seems to me I remember loads of parts for the 29 being available when it had been around that long - not much around for the 31 - all the 28 & 29 mods and repairs too, different OS's being shoehorned in etc.
Is the CF-31 approaching the state of the art straight out of the factory - or has the market just shifted to the tablet - or is voice control on smartphones going to replace it all I wonder?
What an amazing time to be alive -
Found one on ebay from HK. Hopefully it'll be OK - I'll let you know around April, May or June
Russian CF-31 Mk2 new to me
