    Ok,

First off I read 2-3 threads on this and I wanted some advice to make sure, I cant afford spending $40 a pop to get the wrong Flash card.

I plan on getting this one to be safe

Sandisk Extreme 8GB SDHC, Class 10 about $43
amazon.com unless someone found a better reliable price.

I have a MK4 L series CF-29 with Builtin SD reader below the PCMCIA ports.

I am using XP Pro with SP3

I have read that I only need the latest driver/fix which is KB934428 the previous one isnt needed if I use the latest? Is this true?

My laptop has low hours so my SD card reader should be ok, but I do I need another Drivers for this? I used the restore CDs so it should be on there right?

    Next my use:

I plan on using Half for Swap File and Half possible for Eboostr. But I have some questions on Eboostr program.

What does the program actually do? Does it really work or is it a qimmick like programs to boost your PC etc. Will it act like more Ram for the PC?

Reason I ask is I use Map software for work and it uses Aerial photos etc, so more Ram is always good. Swap File on the Flash disk if Faster would be great but will it be faster? I have a 7200RPM 100GB seagate drive installed.

Any help to the above is appreciated, I just dont want to waste my time and money if there will be no help for my use.

P.S. Does the converter for SATA to IDE really work in the Caddy? I seen the link for $20 but I was wondering if it pushed out too much for the caddy setup? It it reliable will it overheat etc? I could use a 300mb Sata drive for my maps.

This should work fine....price is good

Readyboost worked great on my CF-29N but never tried eBoostr. Check out this link about it.
Windows XP ReadyBoost give More Memory and load faster on XP

I was one of the many that did this mod back 6 months ago. It's very tight and you must take a lot of foam out of the caddy for it to work. I would upgrade to the Samsung Spinpoint M5 HM160HC harddrive . It runs almost as fast as the 7200rpm drives and it gives you good battery life.

Thanks for the reply it really Helps.

So there is now a readyboost for Xp, Is the difference Noticeable? As you know we are stuck at 1.5gb. Does Readyboost only work booting/loading or does it help programs also?

I am using the Seagate 7200rpm 100gb drive its pretty fast, the samsung is only 5400rpm, I should notice the speed decrease, this is one reason I didnt go with the larger drives, I have seen Hitatchi 120gb 7200rpm drives on Ebay, but I am not sure one them.

Don't get hung up on the samsung's slower drive speed
I purchased Hitachi 60 and 80gb 7200's when they first came out @ $200 each for upgrades on my cf-29's , but found that the 5400 rpm single platter samsung had equal performance
The main issue with the use of the samsung drives in my mind was reliability as they are not well known as a premuim hard drive , but I have had no issues in the last three years with them
I have replaced all the standard ide drives in my better toughbooks that I sell with the samsung

Interesting statistics. Weird how it looks faster than the Seagate model I have. This may be just what i need as I need 60gb more for Map info.
