I have a CF-30 MK2 and would like to know if anyone has ever got a SDHC 4 GB card to work on there unit. I just purschased a handheld gps unit and it uses SDHC cards. So I need to be able to download maps to my SDHC card.

    Thanks

I don't have a CF-30 to test, but I was able to get a 4GB SDHD card to read in my CF-29 Mk IV after I did some Windows and driver updates. Since it is newer, I would assume that the CF-30 would have no issues as well.

I have an 8GB SDHC Kingston chip (that I use in my tough camera) that works fine in my 30 and the wife-to-be's 19... Love it!

You need to go to microsofts web sight and down load the patch so the bigger sd card will work. I believe 16GB is the max.

It seems you now have to install SP3, the SP2 version is no longer available!

The 2 gig limit is stated in the Pannies CF-30 Mk1 spec, I've never used an SD card larger than that, l always use usb sticks.

    Might just have a try.

If you're using Win7, or XP with Service Pack 3 (or SP 2 with the SDHC card Hot Fix), you should have no problem with >2GB cards. :)

With XP Service Pack 3 the Hot Fix is apparently already incorporated, as when I tried to utilize it on my SP 3-equipped system I got this message:

"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update."

Therefore, the Hot Fix is only needed by XP users who are still on Service Pack 2; non-updated XP or SP 1-equipped systems will require updating to SP 3 to read >4GB cards.

TC, you miss my point. The hotfix for SP2 is no longer available from MS, or at least that's what they told me this morning.
EDIT: I was wrong. Whilst typing this post I got to thinking. Any effort to get this fix other than TB2010's direct link led to a bunch of "update to SP3" nonsense. Following TB2010's link got me through the "download Windows Genuine Advantage" (I can't for the life of me imagine why I would want to let M$ cruise my hard drive to check the source of my software), to an alternative applet which verifies that I'm running Windows SP2, thence to "page not available". Then I tried it with Internet Exploder, et voila, it downloads. It makes me really disgusted that a company as successful as Microsuck is still playing these games. They're like a bunch of 3 year olds having a pi$$ing contest in a sandbox. Get over it guys, your browser sucks, the free one are better. Thanks to the group my CF-30 now sees at least 8GB of SDHC card.

Glad you were able to find the Hot Fix: WindowsXP-KB934428-v3-x86-ENU.exe
Question: What's your aversion to using Win XP Service Pack 3???

What; SP2 wasn't enough unnecessary bloat?

Honestly; as long as you don't let IE or WMP take over your PC, you don't NEED SP3 for JACK.

Actually, Windows XP Service Pack 2 is still available:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers

    File Name: WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe
    Size: 266.0 MB

    Instructions
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides new proactive security technologies for Windows XP to better defend against viruses, worms, and hackers. In addition to a more robust security infrastructure, SP2 improves the security configuration options of Windows XP and provides better security information to help users faced with security decisions.

Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010. If you are running Windows XP SP2 after support ends, you will not receive security updates for Windows. To keep your Windows XP computer up-to-date download Service Pack 3¹ through Windows update now.

TC, you still miss my point. I pointed out that I was in fact able to get the hotfix, I just had to use Microsucks very dangerous browser to do it. As for SP3, like the Dwagon says, who needs it

The main point of my posting, which you "snipped", was:

The "End of Support" caveat was just a part of the referenced page.

And as to Internet Exploder; I actually ran across a web site that would not allow access with IE of any build:

    Browser not supported.

Please use any browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer. (Or the pre-release of version 9.)

    Desktop Browsers:

    • Firefox
    • Chrome
    • Opera

    Phone Browsers:

    • Iris Browser
    • Opera Mobile

Along this same line, "Who needs SP1 or SP2?" ;)

TB2010 - Thanks for the Microsoft update tip. I have a 3 year old Lenovo T61 that has never read SDHC card. Ran the update...which was kind of odd. It seemed to update then at the end I got a message stating the there was already a newer version of the software installed..... I thought the update failed but I tried both a 8gb and 16gb SDHC and they both could now be read/written. I'm running XP sp3.

This just hit my e-mail In Box: For the photographers out there - Toshiba debuts world's fastest SDHC cards

"Mass production of the new SDHC UHS-I Cards and sample shipments of the new microSDHC UHS-I Cards will start this November.

The new SDHC UHS-I Cards are the world’s first memory cards compliant with SD 3.0, UHS104, and introduce a new level of ultra-fast read and write speeds to NAND flash based memory cards: a maximum read speed of 95MB per sec, and a write speed of 80MB per sec.

The new microSDHC UHS-I Cards are the world’s first microSDHC memory cards compliant with SD 3.0, UHS50, and they also offer the world’s fastest read and write speeds in their class: a maximum read speed of 40MB per sec and a write speed of 20MB per sec."

"No prices yet, but expect these to be eye-wateringly expensive." ;)

    ReadyBoost, anyone? ;) :)
