Thinking to buy SD card for my toughbook cf-19 mk2 but not sure which card is good and does toughbook supports 64 or 128 gb sd cards?
What is your experience about sd cards?

    Thanks

    MK2 has SDHC reader - it's 32GB max.
    64GB> are SDXC

P.S. Why do you need such a large SD card? :)
It can't be used as normal SSD :)

Just want some extra space on my TB beside hd :)
I guess then i will get 32 gb since mk2 can't read larger and newer cards.

Thanks for clearing this out for me :)

Interesting question, since sometimes SDHC readers can handle SDXC cards (the common trick is to format the card to FAT32 instead of exFAT), even though manufacturers usually do not support or recommend this. But I happen to have a CF-19 Mk2 and a Lexar 128GB card, and unfortunately I can confirm that this combination does not work. Funny, before this thread it never crossed my mind to test this. :)

    This wikipedia article might help:
Secure Digital - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It suggests that sdxc should work fine with sdhc readers, except that the higher sdxc transfer rates are unavailable.

Microsoft also provides exFAT support for WindowsXP:
Download: Update for Windows XP (KB955704) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

The only possible problem when using FAT32 or any other filesystem on sdxccards instead of exFAT, is that the wear leveling algorithm might be specifically optimized for exFAT, thus reducing transfer speeds and/or lifetime of the card.

The SDHC reader still needs to support capacities beyond 32GB in order to make full use of larger SDXC cards. Unfortunately the reader in the CF-19 Mk2 cannot do this. It can only format the card to about 32GB and then it only sees this capacity.

I notice no problem with the 128GB card when using an SDXC-reader plugged into the USB port of the CF-19. But format it to 128GB there and then put the card into the builtin reader, and you will get an error message about a broken file system.

This might be something that Panasonic could fix with a driver or firmware upgrade, but I doubt it will happen.

No, my CF-19 is still on XP (SP3). But I really don't think this is an OS problem in this case anyway, because as I said, when using a USB-based reader it has no problem utilizing the full 128GB. It is only the builtin reader that cannot do it.

Built in reader is very slow. I did testing and was only getting a few MB/s from the built in reader. I ended up using a micro SD usb adapter from ebay. It fits in the side USB reader and can still close the door. If you want speed, maybe try a pcmcia reader for full size SD. I was using class 10 cards, which should be 10MB/s on the internal reader, and it was slow. Make sure you check the card speed on what you buy, if it matters.

Stick with the name brand and USA sellers too, I found that a lot of the china / hong kong ones coming from overseas sellers are cheap knock offs that are very slow .
