The CF-18 Digitizer I have bought seems to have the original Panasonic screen ptotector, which is matt and quite thick however quite badly marked because of constant use in the same places.

I've purchased a replacement one from Folix which is gloss and not quite as big as the original. It also seems almost imposible to get rid of the trapped bubbles.

The Panasonic one is very expensive (over £50) and I wonder if anyone has a recomendation for another replacement which is preferably also matt?

The NuShield DayVue film is the ideal replacement for the Panasonic film. Not only is it half the price, but it also outperforms any antiglare film currently on the market. With the NuShield film installed you can take your laptop outdoors and still see the screen clearly. Panasonic is currently evaluating the NuShield film as a replacement for their current one and they are impressed with the film.

DayVue LCD Screen Protector for LCD Screens Outdoors

    Manufacturer's Site

    Pros

    • Makes all LCD screens more readable in bright light
    • Successfully reduces screen glare from reflective screens
    • Adds protection for LCD screens
    • Cleans easily and resists fingerprints

    Cons

    • Must be installed very carefully to avoid bubbles behind the film
    • Not a completely magic solution – some glare or reflection still distracting in bright light
    • Less suitable for nonreflective LCD screens frequently used indoors

I have tried a couple of brands before recommending ScreenPatronus
One brand that I used ,after installing had a swirl pattern , it did not work well with the cf-28 that I installed it on
Since your a manufacturer rep ,send Rick , Toughbook some samples to evaluate

I think they ought to send samples to all Toughbook Forum members "for evaluation". ;) :)

What would people recommend as a nice screen protector for the digitizer model of the CF-18? What I'm looking for here is matte texture, something with as paper-like a feel as possible. I use my CF-18 for drawing and find that the standard protector is just a bit too slippery for a steady line. (It's a pet idea of mine that the ultimate Tablet PC would have interchangeable screen glass, to imitate different drawing and writing media.) Glare isn't important to me as I mostly work in low light.

By the way, I tried that replacing the protector in the shower trick mentioned in the other thread. Yes, actually in the shower! Don't worry, I wasn't putting complete faith in the water resistance. I'd dismantled the screen because I was replacing the glass. (Used picture glass; it's about 1 mm thicker than the original but seems to work perfectly.) Still got bubbles though...
