OK, so I know this may sound like a thoughtless question, but it is not:
What's the deal with the screen protectors? I see the OEM ones sell for upwards of $75, when there are others available for other laptops, in the $10 range. What makes the TB screen protector different from the average bear?
Also, I've noticed some warnings on this site, and others, that say the anti-glare coating on the lcd (under the protector) can get pulled off when changing the protector out?
How often should you change it? Is there a certain proceedure that should be followed? I'm begining to think that the bezel on the lcd lid might have to be removed in order to swap the screen protector (and maintain a "seal" with the new protector)?
I ask becuase I just got my cf29 a couple days ago, and just like the seller told me, there is a small blemish in the lower left corner of the screen. It almost looks like a couple minute crumbs got in between the screen and protector, and the oils from the crumbs had spread out (think of oil on a wet parking lot, only 3/4" wide). Comments? Ideas?
Thanks!!!

The OEM ones are expensive as they are the best. The second best is sold by screenpatronous on ebay.
There are several different types and I've bought just about all types. Force fits, adhesive strips on the side, etc. Screenpatronous sells the OEM type, it is just a little thinner. It is a sticky static type cling type screen.
The covering is on the screen protector... Not the screen. Removal of the stock screen protector, if not done correctly, can add a holographic type blemish to the screen. Generally I use a wooden toothpick or dental pick and pop up the upper right corner. I SLOWLY, EVENLY and GENTLY peel it away diagonally toward the bottom left. There is no need to disassemble anything.
How often you change it is up to you. However.. It is VERY hard to install a brand new one without getting any dust behind the protector. So putting up with a little blemish may put you ahead of the game if it is the original protector. Since Panasonic has "clean rooms" to install theirs there is no dust to worry about.... Some will install theirs in a shower or bathroom after first blasting steamy water out of every faucet and shower for about 15 minutes. This tends to knock the dust out of the air and cuts back on static cling.
You should spend some time reading the CF-29FAQs... They will reveal a lot of info.. Plus you'll learn more about what you will eventually want to know. -

That "sticky static type cling type" screen protector: is it sticky, or clingy (static) (I'm going to assume sticky, like every pda protector I've had)?
I believe I have an oem protector on my unit, and like I mentioned, there are 2 spots that look like they have leeched a little natural oil out. Although, I'm not certain if it's actually inbetween the protector and the screen.
I almost want to just peel back the corner and try to clean it with a qtip with alchol or non contact cleaner or something. I realize that runs the risk of those lovely little lines that form when you don't peel evenly.

Read the stickies... Do a bit more research.... Everything is here.
