Hello again, I have a CF-29 Mark I. I cannot seem to get past 800x600 resolution. Is there any other way this can be done? I was hoping to atleast get 1024x768 because of the programs I use for work. Besides replacing the screen is there any other alternative or am I stuck with the 800x600. I just bought this off ebay and since nothing was broken, I cannot return it anymore. I am really hoping for someone in this forum who can help me out.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

if it has intel graphics, maybe you can use the same or a similar technique to the screen scaling driver/program that the eeepc users use.

I downloaded the Intel Chip identification Utility software from their website and it showed my graphics controller to be an Intel(R) 852/855 GM/GME chipset. Installed the new driver and still get the same result. If I change the screen resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768, the screen gets too big that I can no longer use the touchscreen as the window will not fit in my screen.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will definitely try that.

EDIT: Which model driver should I use?

I'm thinking that you have a rare cf-29 with a 12.1" transflective screen.
The 12.1" screen supports 800x600 only.

Thanks, man that was what I was afraid of. If this is the case, is it even worth/possible to change the screen? Otherwise I need to get rid of this laptop as I cannot use it for work.

    I paid $805 in total. I thought I had a good deal....

I have decided to keep my toughbook. :)

Is it possible to replace the whole top part of the toughbook for a 13" screen? Has anyone done this? The reason is so that I can try and find a complete upper part that I can replace with mine to get higher resolution.

    Thanks in advance.

    You can.

It can be hard to find a screen in good shape though!
