Anybody have a source for screws for the CF-28? I need a couple of sets for the hinge cover plate and the keyboard connection cover plate.

Do they have to be from another CF-28 or can generic /3rd party stuff work?

The hinge cover screws are 2.5mm X 5mm if I'm not mistaken. The smaller screws are 1mm x 3mm I think. You can sometimes find them in the "hex" variety in the local hobby shop. Brace yourself for the price though... They can be expensive.

You can "harvest" screws for the hinge cover if you have a spare bottom receiver. I just pulled out 7-8 of the hinge cover type screws from one and they were in perfect condition... Which is a rarity for the hinge cover screws. Most of the ones I've seen always have a couple of them stripped. The other screws can be had from several places, one of which is the 4 screws that hold down the RIM device to the pc board. Or port cover hinges... I usually get my 28s in with no PCMCIA slot cover... But the broken hinges are there as are the screws.

I could send you the 7 plate cover screws for free if you PM me your address... But good hinge cover screws are always in short supply.

BTW.... www.heartlandsi.com has both of these screws in stock. They are sold on an "each" basis and run about .50 - .52 cents each I think... I'm not sure about the smaller ones as I have never priced those.

Lemme know by PM if you want the smaller screws. Just PM me your address!

I don't know about the 28, but on my 29, I showed the screws I needed to a computer salvager and he had a couple laying on his desk from an unknown (to me) brand of notebook. He gave them to me and they worked perfectly.

Klboo.... 2 sets of the smaller screws are on the way...

Rayford... Um... Why post a picture? Just take one of the 4 screws out just above your keyboard...

:elvis: Hey, the docs say that I will soon be able to tighten up my screws considerably. Once they arrive, I'll proceed to track down my marbles as well.:twitcy:
