Very sorry if its been asked, however ive searched and I cannot find any intel on my question.

I have a cf-28 seems that it is a mbfalembkb ? thats the only number i can find.

So here is my question It is equipped with a floppy drive...I'd love to put a cd or dvd rom in if i can so can anyone point me in the right direction.
Kind of a bad first post I know, but im just new to the toughbooks and I'm hoping the one I have leads to a few more...

First, that is not your model number. The best way to get this is to hit F2 on startup to get in the BIOS and the first screen will tell you the correct model number. More than likely, what you have is a sticker placed by the company that owned that machine before you and that is their inventory number.

Second, read here for your CDROM question.

so then this mod will work the same ? I read it and didn't think that it would apply with it being a floppy drive. Awesome :) thanks

and yes there are/were a ton of different stickers all over it.

The floppy caddy and CDROM caddy are indeed different. You can either purchase a CDROM drive with caddy for your model, or purchase an off-the-shelf CDROM/CDRW/DVDRW/insert preference here and 'mod' an appropriate caddy to accept your off-the-shelf optical drive.

    Hope this helps..

It's a shame the guy in Massachusetts sold out of the "brand-new-in-box" CF-VDR291U combo DVD/CD-RW drives on eBay. Bought one for $40.00 plus ~ $13.00 shipping!

Now...all I have to decide is which unit gets to play with it (2-CF-27s, 2-CF-29, and a soon-to-receive CF-28)
