If you plan to sell Toughbooks via Craigslist then have the Balls to say you don't plan to ship and want local pickup only rather than waste a persons time playing silly phone tag.

I've had some successes and definite failures purchasing online from Ebay to Craiglist and it baffles me when guys act like p*ssies and can't make up their damn mind.

Why post here? Because some of the idiots that are selling do come to this Forum.

*edit* most of my issues seem to come from the Chicago area.

i am selling one of my TB now on CL. Funny yesterday, one guy contacted me and told me he paid me through PP, actually $$ plus since he wants express shipping. And he asked me to ship it asap to his cousin. Of course i never received his claimed payment. Why? bc that's my first post on CL and he was testing his luck. make me laughing hard of how funny human being's personality could be.

I buy and sell frequently on the Flea and occasionally on Craigs List. Ebay is a national (and international) marketplace and sellers should be ready to ship. But Craigs List is intended to be a local marketplace and I would not expect someone to ship a CL item. They even tell you to avoid PayPal and shipping to keep from getting scammed.

Just be careful because there are many scams on Craigslist.

I have a total of about (20) things I am selling on Craigslist and I get about (2) SCAM emails a day.

Thanks for the replies. I've bought and sold through Craigslist and its weird that they would tell you to avoid using Paypal when Ebay owns both Craigslist and Paypal. I know the scam can go either way and its Buyer or Seller BEWARE. I'm just fussing from the buyers perspective when the idiot on the other end keeps putting you off and you've only asked what the Model # is.

Ebay doesn't own CL and they only had a tiny interest in it at one time, before Craig forced them out.

I tried to sell some Toughbooks on CL once, the idiots have no idea what they're worth and other than the usual SCAM artists no one seems to have any interest.

I'd take buying on this Forum and Ebay any day over CL- however if a CL seller posts his phone # and answers you could score- my first TB was cash on CL one SundY afternoon- CF29 complete for $175

I am also a seller on Cl but I only deal locally. I sold morethan on ebay for a couple months. It is safer and no multiple charges like on listing fees, final fees, paypal fees and etc. on which they suck everything even your under wear, lol.

I use craigslist for larger, bulkier items or commodity items that you know there is a local market for. I've had good luck with grills, landscaping materials, cars, cellphones, commodity music equipment. When I buy and sell there I will do cash only, local pickup and the first buyer who shows up with cash gets the item. I never assume that anyone reputable will respond to my ad so when someone is decent to work with, it's a nice bonus.

For any kind of specialty item, the ebay nationwide marketplace has worked out better for me. Laptops, unique guitars, etc. all seem to do better on ebay. I hate the fact that ebay has bumped up their fees... but the ebay/paypal 10+% fees are still better than getting half market value if I try to sell the stuff to some second hand store.
