So, I bought these two items for my CF-29 this morning, decent enough deals?

Well not to bad I hope. You must remember the battery might be new BUT it's what we call "new old stock" meaning that it's been sitting on a shelf for the last 3-5 years...it's been that long since Panasonic made them. I have one to and it adds about 1.5 hour, when new it was 2.25. When you get it do a battery refresh to it to see what you get
The dvd is a very good price since you live in canada and he has free shipping ($20.00 saving)but I wonder if he did the mod to it so it will load the OS if needed ?

The mod as in shunt R2? I'll do it if needed, easy enough.

Just realized the DVD is of the Lightscribe type, which unto itself is cool enough, but I don't do much in the way of DVD/CD burning anymore, but still, for the price.

Thanks for the info on the battery, I'd likely keep it in my 29 most of the time, and just swap over if I need to run a disk for installing something.

EDIT: Received my DVD+caddy yesterday, install went perfect and no issues, works like the proverbial "charm". Now I am just waiting on the second battery, is coming from Florida so I suspect maybe mid next week if I'm lucky. Won't stop me from checking the mailbox today though. :)

Well, looks like I scored on both these items, the DVD RW works great, plug and play as it's meant to be. And the second battery I got was brand new too, charges to 100% and in total combination, it shows a battery life of 7.5hrs, which is about 3 hours longer than just using my main battery. So, call me a happy camper! :)

That's great. Did you do a battery refresh on it yet. With both batteries in it will take about 8 -10 hours to run it.

I tried the other night, left it for 8.5hrs, was only at 50% discharged when I got up so I stopped it sine I wanted to use it. Will leave over night Monday since I'm back to work Tuesday, it can have as much time as it needs then.

It's been some time since I did mine but I knew it would take at least 10 hours but you might have a better batteries than me so it will take longer. I know I was getting a good 5 hours at one time.

Can't complain really, bought two new batteries for my other laptops within the past couple months, both I get about 2 hours off a full charge. Hehe, so Im really not complaining, but will have to recalibrate when I get the long chance too.

Completed my recall last night/this morning, got home and fired it up, makes more sense now based upon your experience, total time with #1 at 100%#2 at 99%, roughly 5.5hrs total battery time. At least it's more trustworthy and predictable now, thanks for the info.

That's good, that's just about what I was getting. I would take my 29 MK5 to the camp and I could watch 3 full length movies no problem at all...my dull maybe 1 if I was lucky.

    Thanks.

My readings are fluctuating now, bouncing between 4:40hrs and 6:45hrs at 96% currrently. And I'm not doing anything different that might soak up extra power. Any ideas? Seemed the battery cal was more stable before I did the recalibration.

It might take a few calibrations to get it all stabilized and optimized.

Think rebooting it was the fix, unsure the start estimate two hours ago when I fired it up for some youtube and forums, then left it hibernate while I worked on some new knives for a customer in the garage for 45mins....., but right now I'm at 97% and 33%, battery time showing is 4:43 at 72%. Unsure why my main battery is at 97% though........

The media battery will be used first and then the main battery. I don't think there is any way to change that. That is the way mine is too.
