    Hi all,

I can get my hands on the above mentioned SSD.
Anyone know or used that brand?

    I plan to use it in a CF-18 MK4

There is an old link to a discussion here
Solidata P series review (Pata SSDs) - DV Nation Forums

The P1 version looks like a safer bet as it's a slc type ,and avoids the potential stuttering with you get with some MLC controller chips

I have been using my cheap kingspec ide ssd for a while now and although it loads windows fast and benchmarks higher than any harddrive ,it's frustrating at times with stuttering
I will click to go into my documents several times before it responds at certain times
I am happy I only spent $65 for it as I won't feel too bad when I toss it in the garbige can and put the 160GB Samsung back in

At this point I would say buy a 60/80/100 7200 Hitachi , WD scorpio blue 80-320 GB , or my fav the Samsung 160GB

I found that review to, but they did not test it.
Hard to find a real review of the PATA drives, if it does not go overpriced (its on Ebay for the moment) i think i give it a try.

I have the Samsung 160GB in it, and happy with it.
The point is that i do sound design and sound system engineering and vibration is a week point of all spinning HD's
I killed two lappy's (HP & ASUS) measuring sub woofers like that (thats why i like Toughbooks)

So i thought a SSD would be more resistant to vibration.

Understand now and agree that a ssd makes a good choice
Your testing tools are better that what I used in the 70's
I had a spl meter and test tones lol

I would recommend a slc type if you can handle the price
Your spectrum analyzer software won't be too accurate if the drive has issues with stuttering
Both my cf-30 and cf-19 have small slc ssd's 16GB and 32GB as I was worried about problems with MLC type ssd's

My first real part time job was in a electronics repair business
I tested tube's ,stocked the shelves with tubes and tried to stay away from flyback transformers ,and the ungrounded tube type radio's that used to zap me

High end audio and sound system engineering are some of my hobbies
