And so I sold my mom a MINT (only 650 hours) CF-74GCE01BM. The touchscreen worked FINE for about a month or so and is now not working at all! I called Pany and the warranty expired in June of 2010 (so 2 freakin months ago).

Anyways, there is a yellow bubble in device manager that says "Unknown USB hub" (Which ALSO comes and goes randomly)

At first it was intermittent, and now it doesn't work at all! Before I do a wipe/reload I'd like some advise...

I'm so pissed as this thing is like BRAND NEW and it's my mothers! This is not her first time around a Toughbook either as she has a 52 that has been beat up going through the airport's and it runs GREAT. She is SHOCKED that this gorgeous unit is acting up. I got this unit from Robert (Silver Trooper), and I'm not mad at you at ALL Robert as $hit happens.

    HELP!!!! :( :( :( :(

Rob, sorry to hear about that. Is the touch showing in the BIOS? I am guessing that you have done all the obvious as far as the connections? I know we have gone through this before with other members, and the biggest problem is deciding if it is a hardware problem or software. I had the same yellow bubble pop up from time to time, but never had the touch go out. Whether it shows in the BIOS is the big question....

I have had tis happen on a 73 from time to time and it always is a conflict with something else that prevents the drivers from loading it seems.

It also never ends up being what I think or expect but I also have somehow
gotten it going each time it happens.

I am not sure if its worth mentioning but Panasonic Support never has a clue what is going on,I imagine you already know this.

    Good Luck
    Ed

It does show up in the BIOS... It gives me the option for touchscreen, tablet only & auto... I've tried all three... No avail :(

OMG! So I AM A FREAKING GENIUS!!!

So I spent 3 hours and 40 minutes messing around with 3 CF-74 panels on 2 different CF-74's today! I've determined through all of my troubleshooting that the BUILT IN SPRINT CARD (the one in the screen) is what was causing the touch panel to NOT work... I simply removed the little wire within that assembly and BOOM! It all works again!

    THANK GOD!

Do you mean that you have lost the use of the Sprint wwan, to gain use of the touchscreen ?

Looks like a com port conflict, but the wwan and touchscreen should work at the same time

Yes and Yes, I think it's a com port confilct... My mom use's an express card Sprint card anyways because she has 2 laptops so she has no use for internal Sprint anyways...
