I have a problem with my CF 29 Mk1 - music playback is a bit broken as if there is an interuption from another process.
Video playback is very poor, from dvd or hard drive, running for 3 or four seconds then spending 30 seconds catching up.
I have reinstalled the drivers from the panasonic site but nothing has changed - if anyone has any ideas where to start I would be much obliged

My Mk-1 had no issues as you describe
Did playback work at one time , look for processes running in the background in the task manager , and see what is using up your resources

Hi, thanks for the reply. This 29 is fairly new to me and the music was tolerable but now I try to play movies I can see there is a problem. There are no processes running as far as I can see - everything else is turned off, even the antivirus. Is there a way to show hidden processes not shown in the task manager?

What movies are you playing ?
Internet movie streaming might be a problem with the cf-29 mk-1 specs
Clairify how you are running these , are you playing
DVD type in the optical drive or Divx or Avi type from the hard drive or streaming from the internet

Just DVD and AVI, nothing that didn't play on my 28 - that's why I thought it might be a driver problem.
Just tried streaming from the internet (BBCiplayer) and all works perfectly.

I would start over then as it must be software issues
Fresh load of xp updated to sp3
Chipset driver , video driver, sound driver , from panasonic downloads
Wireless driver download only from intel and then all the others like the hotkeys from panasonic
You don't have the restore disks as this was a factory w2000 model

Tomcat, thankyou very much for all your help. I will do as you say and report back, though I will have to get a new copy of XP as the machine came pre loaded.
    Thanks again

    CF-29CTKGZDM DESCRIPTION:
Pentium M 1.2GHz ULV (Centrino), 13.3" Transmissive touch screen, 40GB HDD, 256 MB RAM, 56K/LAN, FDD, Intel PRO Wireless LAN, WIN 2000

Let me suggest using the genuine Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 Series Product Recovery CD-ROM set to install XP Pro and all the correct CF-29 Mk1 drivers at the same time.
