Ok, well now I got my wireless working and need some speed. I have a CF-28 and it has 256 ram. It has 2 slots so I have one open.
Would love some recommendations on the ram from the gurus here.
I know I can only go up 256 more but what would you recommend?

Also, is there a wifi card that fits inside the CF-28? I have one but it sticks out and I would like to find one I can leave inside of it.

Kevin, I've got a good deal on a new 512mb stick which will work on your CF-28 for 768 total. See Cap's Lazarette Sale in the BST forum. I'll be listing a new 60GB 7200rpm Hitachi HD tomorrow.

    Kevin,

Welcome the the forum! Yes... Read the stickies and come back with more questions....

To answer a few.... Yes... There are many easy mods you can do to speed up your Toughbook and to get you online. Speed is through RAM and a IDE 7200 RPM hard drive if you can get one. (See CAP's drive above...If you need more space Hitachi USED to make a 100GB IDE hard drive but they are VERY expensive... Or can be. A 5400 rpm will do in a pinch!)

The wifi is an easy mod too. You most likely either have a modem card... Or a modem and a LAN mini pci card. I have a few Modem/LAN cards to part with (PM or email me) that take the place of the modem card... That frees up a spot for a wifi card. Then the trick is the antenna. You can do the SMA bulkhead out the side and use an external antenna. If you have a pull-up RIM antenna (upper left of the LCD) you can mod that into an excellent wifi antenna. You can also build some "paddle" type antennas and mount them in various spots. The stickies will tell you how, where, whey and how much... Usually.

Please feel free to ask questions once you read a little. We have the most combined knowledge of any place short of Panasonic themselves and I would even stack us against them on A LOT of issues! So fire away.... We don't flame people... We help them....

Welcome to the slippery slope my friend... You are going to have a great time modding your Toughbook... And then showing it off! ;)
