So, you are running Windows XP, Vista or Win7 on a Toughbook and want to maximize your performance huh?
Here is a simple hack that will allow you to automate resetting your Graphics to the lowest basic setting, and will cut the Aero Feature on and off for you multi-core guys, when you are running system intensive applications.
Just right click on program icon that you want to apply this trick to and go to Properties. Then go to the Compatibility Tab. There you should see a setting called Disable Desktop Composition, check that off and hit Apply.
Now when you click on that Icon it will automate the process of automate resetting your Graphics to the lowest basic setting. Closing that program will return your graphics to your desired higher setting. Neat huh?
As always, my apologies to those that know this, have seen this, or wrote the code behind this. Don't shoot me, I am just the messenger.![]()
