    Hello all,

Out of nowhere, two problems have suddenly possessed one of my cf-30 mkiiis.
    1) The first has to do with the wi-fi switching capacity. If the wi-fi is switched off during a re-boot, the switch won't turn it on. Even when the switch is on, trying to turn it on via the "wireless switch utility" icon and menu (with "wireless LAN ON" and "Wireless LAN OFF" at the top) won't work. I check the "On" box, and it doesn't do anything. If it's wi-fi is on and I put the computer to sleep, it's typically off when it wakes up, and won't come back on unless I reboot with switch on.

    2) No sound from speaker, though headphones work fine. I've checked volume levels on various sound menus and they're way up.

I've also checked the setup menu against that of my other cf-30 mkiii which works flawlessly. They're configured exactly the same way. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Swap hard drives and see what happens.
That will narrow the problem down.

FIXED! Compared the" processes" lists on Windows Task Manager in both CF-30s and noticed that the "hkeyapp.exe" was not running on the malfunctioning one--accidentally disabled at some point. Anyway, all is well.

If this shows me anything, it's that everyone needs at least 2 Toughbooks!

When you have 30 or more...then you learn. When you're asked if you have a Toughbook for sale you can say "how many did you need"?

    There you go!
I'm about 26 TBs shy of 30, but my 2 cf 29s are still in service after nearly a decade. Both run XP, which is necessary for several old programs I still use nearly ever week. I converted the 30s to ssd, but the 29s are still on hard drives. Can't beat these things. Or rather, you can beat them and they keep right on going.
