I got a cf 29 mk4 which had a really terrible case and i want to switch it with my mk3 which has an almost excellent case. I have taken the mk4 pretty much all the way apart and i noticed it had a sd card slot while the mk3 does not.
Obviously i would have to cut a slot out, but i was wondering if there was any other things i should be aware of that may not fit properly. I will also be switching the lcd top as well, i would switch the entire lcd, but the mk4 is alot brighter than the mk3 screen. I assume the mobos are the same size?

Your probably getting into some hazy things there. For cutting the case i would recomend a dremel to do the job. The best way to find out is to do it and take lots of pics as you go along. try it and f it doesnt work then use your pics as a reference. Would you be willing to sell the mk-3 if the case swap works also?

everything fits well, the only issue now is i cant get my touchpad to work

The blue goes up on the green board under the touch pad.
Does the hard drive light and power light come on when you power up? -
You broke the connections on the end of the cable when you removed it from the motherboard, thats a common screwup
Its a lot of work to remove but you have to remove and check the traces
I suspect they are worn off the last 3/16" when you removed it and are not connecting
The fix is to cut the flat cable carefully to remove the damaged /missing traces

is that the white cable with the blue end i need to check? if that is it, i did notice damage so i cut right below it and put it in. it still does not work though.
yes the hard drive light is on but the mp with the arrow is not -
List issues then
I thought you had a non working touchpad, from your last post your led/leds for the mp are not working, and you forgot to mention the damaged cable
Is there any thing else to report
Did you have the service manual for reference
As for flat cables I don't have a cf29 apart to check what go's where
If that cable was damaged when you pulled it out without releasing it ,there is a possibility that some fine traces are shorting across causing the fault after your repair, which is fixed by compressed air into the connector to dislodge the short after cable removal
Or there is not enough remaining to make a good connection

after you suggested to look at the cable, i did and noticed the traces were damaged, so i cut right below it and plugged it in. the touchpad does not still work, i tried a usb mouse and that works fine. neither the touchpad or the buttons work. i assume the led light is somehow related to the touchpad.
btw the area that i am speaking of is where there are 2 cables next to each other. the white with blue ends and green lettering on it[which was the cable i cut] then brown cable which i assume is connected to the power button. -
Yes it has blue ends
You will need to replace,do you have a spare from the swap
Just checked my parts bin and I have one but not 100% sure on one end
It may be shorting in the conector so compressed air after you release + make sure it go's in all the way and retry

Hey i think i would need that cable. Let me know if you still have it. Also my power ribbon cable is damaged as well. They are so delicate.
