    Mnementh,, Thanks , I'll never use dail up so out they go ..Love the comment about the dremmel.. I work on horses , I used to rebuild mack truck trannies 3 countershafts whooo, i know i shouldnt be fooling with electronics but i like to tinker once in a while ,, i can't help myself.
    Toughbook ,, Thanks you've left much valuable info on these pages but some of the pics that would've helped me had been removed or i could'nt see.. As has been said THANKS to you TB VETS for all the work and knowledge you've been willing to share!!! Holiday

    Sorry to close the thread on you but it was never really meant as a continuous thread.

    Yeah... Most don't use dial-up but might need the LAN... So you may want to keep the stock NIC... *Some* diagnostic units may need the modem or NIC to work... FWIW...

    You may want to think about Dremeling unless you are for sure... But then the parts are easy enough to get...

    Toughbook ,, Its all good i didnt mean to keep lengthing the thread,, Was'nt thinking about were i was posting :)
    Did'nt think about LAN ,, I might wanna rethink it , i jst wanted to hang a couple 2.0 USB ports there ,, did'nt want to hack the MB to use the 1.1 location but thats jst more stuff i get to take apart huh.....

    Why not just buy one of the flush-fit PCMCIA cards that offer two USB 2.0 ports?

    Yeah ive two of those,, guess i jst kinda like the idea of internal , but i think its not worth the hassle so ill jst stick with that..

    I may be looking for a 3 com card after all.. any suggestions or are they pretty much all the same??

    I would hold out for the Billionton. You are looking for their older style... With the stick antenna that either retracts into the card or folds down beside it. I don't think the ones with the big bump on the end will fit into the card slot with the door closed.
