What I mean is that the backlight on my cf-29 has stopped working, but the computer still works
With a flashlight I can see that the lcd is working good

    I’m thinking the inverter failed

Second choice would be the ccf tubes , but there was no warning sign of failure on these
Usually before ccf tube failure the display should start to dim and a red tint on boot happens, but none of those signs in my case, as I just stopped working

Third choice would be the switch that shuts off the display when the lid is closed

Anyone have any problems with their cf-29 display
What’s the most common problem on these?

    Any ideas guys?

Most posible problem will be the inverter or the fuse on the mbo. It needs a total disassembly if you proven that the problem is on the mbo. If you have another unit, try to hook it up temporarilly to test if it work with another LCD.There are two fuses on the mbo. before the LCD connector one for LVDS CN and one for BLTS CN. This fuses mark F6 and F4 respectively. The F4 is for backlighting and it is the most candidate.

    Thanks ohlip

Busy for a couple days, but my first step will be to remove the back of the lcd panel and I will check for voltage on both sides of the inverter and report back

Anyone know if the inverter is a common item
Anyone have a spare if I find that I need one?

I had a cf29 with the very dim so i changed the inverter and then all was fine. I have a few extra inverters from the cf29s that are in such horrible condition that i'm using them as spare parts so lemme know if you need one or anything other obscure component

Alex its most def the inverter... I've changed thousands of inverters in my times... about one out of every 30 cases it wasn't an inverter and it was a backlight or both... Mostly an inverter issue though.

    Thanks

Doobie, I hope to god your not being serious. I don't seem to be able to help anybody out here. All I do it seams is mooch off of yall's brains. If I have ever helped someone I am glad I did, suprised, but glad! Once my 30's are older versions then I guess I will start to develop a pile of parts.

Alex, you might be suprised one day. I might get a wild hair up my cavity and start taking this thing apart. Which of course I would never get it back together, then I would have some parts for you!
