The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

i take it you are referencing the forum software change ?
yeah ... it does have some "character defects" .
one thing i noticed is the listing of comp brands ... razer comes before panasonic ... so much for alphabetical .
ehhh ... give 'em some time .
now i'll sign my name to this *loving appraisal* and put it in my hip pocket .
    ;)

ps ... the smileys are limited .

Would be nice if the threads I visited weren't missing the last 2 weeks of posts, too. Hope this gets fixed soon.

    My eyes hurt..

Off to look for settings to change and adblock elements like the huge column on the right...

I eliminated the column on the right...Adblock elements...
I changed style to VB 3.x on my settings page

Those two changes improve things dramatically

So I get 1237 "Reputations" for posting that I don't like the new forum. Reminds me of people trying to "dumb down" something... I think I am done here.

If anyone wants me... You have my email or PM.

The style seems to be saved locally as a cookie. I set it to vb 3.x at home and it looked ok.
Came to work and although in settings it said vb 3.x, it was displaying the awful default. I reset it to vb 3.x on this the work pc and it changed to the easy to read format.

Tried to tweak my avatar with a transparency layer. Apparently this board doesn't like transparencies. :(

How about that log in screen; dark grey characters on a black background. Brilliant! What an improvement!
I hope this change-over makes a lot more money for the sites owners because it sure doesn't seem to do anything positive for us users.

    Forum tinkering.

Using Opera 12.16 (released july 4, 2013, mind ...), but suppose Mozilla/Chromium's have some extensions that permit the same trick.

    hmmm ...
    this style of numbers : 6036268941780578 .
    is hard to "follow" .

the style of "nothing below the line" is much easier on the eyes .
(i can't remember what this style is called)

Well first what you need to do is go to your Alert Preferences and set what you want to get.
