    Hi I just came accross an fairly easy fix for this problem, actually it was too easy thats why I strugled with it and tried to uninstall and re installing things and nothing seemed to help, the solution was to run repair64.reg in folder C:/util/sysifman, it fixed the always muted problem and brought back the visual hotkey functions.
    Just thought to tell about it if somebody else is having this same problem.
