OK, my wife came across some import models of the W4 last night. She is almost completely sold on it due to it's semi-rugged construction, fanless design, and how the optical drive is configured. Also the fact that the Japanese models have color options (and yes, that is important to her) and the 1.3GHz PM ULV and is willing to pay a painful price for both of these. Painful as in around $500 over what the domestic version costs. Anyway, all those things aside here are my two questions:

    1) Has anyone ever dealt with dynanmism.com? And if so, how are they as a company? Seems to be the only place in the U.S. that sells them and I found absolutely nothing about them on resellerratings.com.

EDIT: Found my answer. I only did a search on dynamism on the Panasonic forum and found nothing, but when I searched the entire forum I found some favorable comments regarding this company.

    2) How do you think the Pentium M ULV would handle Vista when and if she decided to upgrade over the next 3 years? She could absolutely care less about the eye candy, but decent performance would be a must.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I realize the title says three questions, I meant to say two. My fingers have a mind of their own sometimes.

    1) Yes, they're totally legit. They even offer decent service for some of the technical issues you might encounter importing a Japanese machine.

    2) I don't think the CPU will be a limiting factor for Vista. It sounds like they're going to make a light version anyway, so she should be fine, though we won't know for certain for a few months more.

My two cents, I don't think it's worth it to import this machine, but that's your call.

My call? Don't I wish! :p For what it's worth, I don't think so either. I've talked until I'm blue in the face trying to convince her to just buy the U.S. version from P1 or someone like that. But the sad truth is she is an eternal slave to fashion and it's her money. She makes more than I do and she's insisting on this specific machine. I'm just trying to make sure she doesn't regret it (or regret it as little as possible) down the road.

    Thanks, Brian!
