I have XP on 1 of my HDD caddies, and W7 on another. When I go from the XP caddy to the 7 caddy upon start up Microsoft starts installing the driver for the XP Touch. It wont allow me to update the XP driver to the 7 driver afterwards. It says " This machine does not support"

Does anybody have a solution to this?

Here is what I have tried.

    Disabling the current XP driver.
Tried installing it in Compatibility Mode.
System Restore to the previous time I had the proper driver loaded, it restarts then loads the old driver again.

It won't even let me calibrate with the XP driver on there?

    Thanks

    Toyo,

I am having a very similar problem. I just got a Toughbook 29 on eBay that didn't come with a hard drive. I purchased a hd and began setup. I wasnt able to find a full version of xp so I bought windows 7.

In the device manager I have two devices that are not functioning ("unknown device" and "Video Controller"). I believe that one of these has to be for the touchscreen. I have tried to install the correct drivers to both but it also says that they are not supported.

Anyone have experience with the XP feature in W7 Pro? I only have the Home version but if it works well I might upgrade.

Sorry, I cant help out but maybe this will help somebody else to get us both info.

I would say the unknown device is your Hot keys. Use the driver from MK5 hot keys. Unzip them first and install them.

It would be helpful to have your full model number of the machine.

I found the workaround. I have to uninstall the device in the device manager, then under properties of the W7 Touch driver I have to set it at Windows Xp compatibility mode. Then it will install the driver. Why it is doing this I have no idea? It's the only thing that is hanging around when I switch hard drives.

Kpc, I have some experience with the virtual XP. I had a problem running the program I needed to though, so I had to install the seperate OS. I really need to spend more time with it, it is kinda different in a way that's hard to describe.

If you read the W7 install instructions from Panny you will see the device driver numbers, like the hotkey is 19 if I remember correctly. Just remember, it won't install if it's not the right one. That being said, there isn't that many to chose from. Good luck.

I'm still having trouble with this. How do I install in compatibility mode?

Right click on the .exe installer and you will see the props.
